Marigold's POV
Things have been oddly peaceful. Which should make me feel relaxed, yet I felt the exact opposite. My life for the past month and a half has been anything but peaceful. So having this moment of peace felt strange to say the least.
I had the day off today and Daisy insisted that we bake cookies, well- attempt to bake cookies. She stood on her toddler stool, elbows deep in a bowl of cookie dough. The kitchen was a mess, flour covered the surface of the island, egg shells littered the counter space.
"Okay bunny, it's time to put it on the baking sheet so we can pop it in the oven to cook." Daisy did her best to scoop the dough onto the cookie sheet, cookie dough residue stuck to her arms causing her to whine. If there's one thing to know about Daisy, it's that she hates getting dirty. I laughed at her small tantrum and finished scooping the rest of the dough as she moved to the sink to scrub her hands as best as she could.
"Mommy, Harry still coming?" Daisy asked loudly above the noise of the faucet.
"Yes, love. He should be here soon." I set the timer on the oven and wiped my hands on a towel. "How about you go play with some toys in the living room while I clean up? I'll be right there." I pinched Daisy's cheeks as she climbed down from her stool before running off into the living room.
I hummed along to the disney music that played softly over the speaker in the kitchen, throwing away all the trash and wiping down all the countertops. I checked my phone for the time, Harry was supposed to get here 15 minutes ago.
As if on cue, there was a knock at the front door. I smiled instantly when I opened the door to see Harry at the door with a bouquet of daisies in his hands.
"For me??" I gasped as he placed the bouquet into my hand. He nodded, stepping into the apartment and wrapping his arms around me tightly. I sighed happily as the now familiar smell of his cologne filled my nostrils.
The sound of tiny footsteps running towards us caused us to pull away from each other. Harry instantly knelt down with his arms wide open to catch Daisy as she flung herself into his arms.
"Woah! You are so fast, baby love." Harry gasped as he squeezed Daisy tightly. I shook my head with a smile and walked towards the kitchen to grab a vase for the flowers. I love that Harry still gets me flowers even though I'm a florist, even since we started to date Junior year of high school he's always made the bouquets he's given me himself. The thoughtfulness and intentionality always made me feel special, Harry always made me feel special.
"Smells good!" Harry hummed as he walked into the kitchen with Daisy on his hip. I nodded, sliding a tiny bowl of cookie dough towards his direction. Harry's eyes widened and his smile grew wider. "You are amazing." He smiled, picking up the bowl happily before walking towards me to plant a kiss to my forehead.
"Play with me!" Daisy begged Harry, tugging softly at the ends of his hair. Harry nodded eagerly at the small child and they sauntered off to the living room, me following behind them. Harry sat criss-crossed next to Daisy as she handed him two barbie dolls.
"You the babies and I mommy." She chimed happily, starting to talk to herself as she moved the dolls around. Harry joined in on her gibberish, saying sentences that didn't make any sense.
"Babies don't talk." Daisy stopped her movement and stared at Harry with a blank face. I threw my head back in laughter, not being able to resist. Harry's mouth opened but then quickly closed, too stunned to speak.
"Just got schooled by a three year old." I whispered into his ear, stifling a giggle. He rolled his eyes and bumped his shoulder with mine.
"Mommy," Daisy called for me, I turned to look at her with a smile.
