Marigold's POV
I've been standing in front of Jacob's hotel room for the past three minutes, just staring at the door. After dropping him off earlier I took Daisy home and called Allie to come watch her while I took some time to myself to figure out what the hell I wanted to do about Jacob.
A part of me was oddly relieved that Daisy finally knew the truth and that she also seemed happy with it. But the majority of me was angry and irritated with Jacob. Not only did he tell Daisy against my wishes, he did it in the most nonchalant and casual way. The complete opposite of how I envisioned telling Daisy.
I thought I would sit down with Daisy, ease into the topics of fathers again. I didn't want get her hopes up too much. I thought it would be more formal and I don't know, emotional? Either way, this was not how I wanted Daisy to learn about Jacob.
Now I'm here, staring at his hotel room door with still no idea what to do. I took a deep breath before lifting my hand and letting my knuckles knock against the wood. I heard some shuffling from the other side before the sound of the lock clicking.
Jacob opened the door, a smile already on his face that faltered a little when he saw that I was in fact alone.
"Hey.." He said softly, hopefully he understood how much he fucked up earlier. I pushed my way into the hotel room, not greeting him back. I heard him sigh before closing the door and following me inside.
I thought I would be calm and collected but after seeing his stupid face, all the irritation came flooding back over me.
"Marigold listen-" I spun in my spot, shoving my finger into his chest. He looked taken aback by my actions, clearly not expecting me to be so spiteful right now. His eyes widened slightly and his mouth shut tight.
"No, Jacob. You, listen." I glared up at him. "We said that we wouldn't say anything to Daisy until I was ready." I spat at him. "I was not ready. She's my daughter-"
"She's my daughter too!" He shouted, his eyebrows knitted together tightly.
"Oh yeah?? The daughter you walked out on? The daughter you told me to abort??" I shot back. Every word that came out of my mouth was laced with anger. The nerve of this guy.
Jacob looked as if the wind got knocked out of him from my words. Hurt flashed through his eyes before they were filled with anger, a look I was all too familiar with. I wanted to recoil, I wanted to back down and cower away but I won't. I'm not the same naive girl that he dated all those years ago, I can't let him have that power over me anymore.
"That's not fair." He glared at me, crossing his arms over his chest.
"I don't care. You didn't seem to care when you told her she was your daughter against my wishes." I was beyond annoyed, I thought I was cooled off by now but seeing his face brought the anger right back into my body.
I think what annoyed me the most was the fact that he didn't see an issue about the whole thing. Jacob genuinely doesn't understand why I'm so worked up about this, he never sees things in my perspective nor does he care to. He's always told me that I overreact too much, that I care too much about things that don't matter. I know he's thinking the same thing about this whole thing too.
"She's only three! She doesn't understand things the way we do. She doesn't understand how complicated things are." I muttered, my hands were flung out in the arm.
"It doesn't have to be complicated." He took a step forward, his arms grabbing either one of my arms. "We can be a family, a proper family. We can be happy together. Isn't that what you want? Don't you want Daisy to have a real family?" He asked, his face inching towards mine as he spoke.
