Marigold's POV
Come on Harry, we want to say goodnight to you!
The sound of my daughter's voice ringing from the TV screen causes me to whip my head towards Harry who sat beside me on the couch, a smug smile on his face. The sound of upbeat music filled the living room along with Harry's voice.
"Shhh!" Harry hushed me instantly when I opened my mouth to say something. His finger pointed at the tv screen obnoxiously trying to get me to focus on the music video that played in front of me. Harry appeared, walking through a door in a large red coat.
Harry had asked for my permission to use Daisy's voice in one of the tracks for the album but he didn't say what clip or what song. I didn't expect it to be the first thing heard on the first public track on the album, now I'm racking my brain trying to figure out where that little snippet came from. I'm sure his fans went into a frenzy at the sound of a child's voice. It was cute for sure and I know Daisy will absolutely freak out when she finds out she's a part of the album.
Today Harry released the first single of his album, As It Was. I've heard clips of the song before, he played me some of the instrumentals and even sang me a few of the verses and the chorus. But now his album is ready to go and he's just waiting to release it to the world. That didn't stop him from dropping hints left and right to his fans, it was quite amusing to watch his fans dissect and theorize every little thing that Harry and his team posted or released.
My eyes shifted back to the video in front of me, taking in every frame and every word that left his mouth. There was a lot going on in the video but I was focused on Harry's face. More specifically his facial expressions and how sad he looked in most of the video, his eyebrows furrowed as he sung.
When the second verse started, Harry scooted closer to me and interlocked our fingers, giving my hand a tight squeeze. I bit my bottom lip, conflicted on how to feel about the song and the music video. How could such a happy upbeat song have such heavy and sad lyrics?
I think Harry knew I was riding the different emotions in the song. He whispered a soft "it's okay," in my ear. A smile finally broke on my face when Harry broke out in dance, his hands swinging around in the air as he ran around and jumped like a little kid. He looked genuinely happy and free. I didn't know what to expect from his music videos, all of them are so weird and unique.
When the last note rang in the air, Harry paused the tv from playing anything else.
My mouth was still wide open, trying to process what I just witnessed and heard. He shifted his body to face me and I know that he was urging me to say something and give him my thoughts. I didn't quite know what to say, I feel like I have to watch the video and listen to the song at least another 5 times to process everything about it.
"Can I hug you?" I asked, shifting on the couch to face him. He chuckled but nodded his head, letting go of my hand and wrapping his arms around my body and pulling me close to him. My head rested on his chest. "That's a sad song." I said softly. Harry's chest vibrated as he laughed under me.
"You're tricking everyone into thinking it's a happy song when it's actually sad." I said. Harry hummed.
"I don't think it's necessarily sad." He said softly. "Sure, it's about some devastating experiences from my past, but how lucky am I that I can share those experiences through music." I shifted in my position, looking up at Harry who had a small smile on his face.
Leave it to Harry to always see the good in dark things.
"If that's your reaction to this song, I'm kind of scared for you to hear the rest." Harry laughed. My mouth gaped open as I pushed off his chest so I could see if he was being serious or not. He was being dead serious.
