I woke up to gentle knocking on my door. I shuffled in my bed and checked my watch, I was late.

I jumped out of bed and threw on the closest clothes I could reach.

"Come in!" I said quickly, yanking my shirt down.

The door bolted open as I was pulling on my shoes.

The maze doors opened about five minutes ago, and we were supposed to leave the maze at the crack of dawn- which means as soon as the doors open; it's crucial.

"I-I'm so sorry Newt, usually I get up automatically I don't know--"

"Hey, it's alright love. We'll just miss some parts of our section, it's fine."

"I know, I know, I'm just really sorry."

I admitted, knotting my shoes quickly.

"Here, I brought you breakfast."

Newt set down a plate filled with eggs and bacon, I grabbed my pack and scarfed down the food as we made our way to the maze doors.

Newt was fidgeting with his fingered as I tried to buckle my pack hurriedly.

"Need some help with that?"

I let out a frustrated sigh, "please?"

He buckled my pack and after that we ran in.

Since I slept in, we couldn't waste any time on breaks. He was ahead of me and I was behind him, taking notes and dropping vines.

Newt came to an abrupt stop.

"Okay, we've been running for bloody hours, I think it's time for a break."

I sighed a sigh of relief and collapsed onto the ground, Newt joined me.

"Shuck," I mumbled under my breath, realizing I didn't pack anything for lunch.

"What's the matter?"

"Oh, nothing." I let out a nervous chuckle, I didn't want to seem like a total fool in front of him.

Even though we ran together often, I always felt the need to push myself harder and be more responsible with him.

Why you ask? I don't know..just kidding, it's because I'm head over heels for him, and maybe if he saw how much effort and work I put into the glade he would fall for me too.

But no, I just shucking blew that opportunity and I would never forgive myself.

"You forgot your lunch didn't you?"

Newt smirked, as if he read my mind, he could see through me like glass.

I nodded, a smile creeping its way to my lips, I felt so irresponsible, but Newt was just too cute.

"That's alright," he chuckled, "here." He split his sandwich in half and threw me and extra apple he happened to have.

Silence flooded the walls as Newt and I chomped down on out food.

Newt froze, "Wait a second, can you bloody hear that?" He whispered.

"Hear wha--"

"Shh," Newt pressed a finger to my lips and I gave him a hard glare, pulling his finger away.

It always bothers me when people shush me.

Whir, whir. Click, click.

Newt cautiously stood up, me following right behind him.

He looked back at me. "It's a greiver." He whispered, his voice strong, but worry and fear overcoming his expression.

I stared behind him as the greiver creeped closer.

"U-uh." I pointed behind him frozen in fear and he looked back and ducked, right before the greiver stroke.

He grabbed my hand and we ran like our life depended on it, because it did.

He shoved me in front of him, but I couldn't help but constantly look behind, making sure he was okay.

"Keep bloody going, I'm ok."

Newt said between breaths, as if he read my mind once again.

He grabbed my waist and we both crashed into the glade together, breathing heavily.

"Shuck." I gasped.

"That was bloody intense." Newt declared, staring into my eyes.

"Yeah, thanks for saving my life."

"You too."

"Uh, yeah." I chuckled as Newt fidgeted underneath me. "Oh! Uh, sorry." I blushed, getting off of him and looking the other way.

He gently turned my face so that I was looking directly into his eyes.

"You apologize too bloody much."

"Sorry." I mumbled, looking down at the grass below us.

He chuckled and pulled my face towards his, our lips connecting so simply, so beautifully.

"Sorry, I-I just, really wanted to bloody do that."

"Don't be, you apologize too much." I mocked as he pulled me into another heartfelt kiss.
