Once the sessions were over, I managed to catch Michael and Jon to work out some plans. Michael was Daniel's personal trainer/assistant. Jon was Lando's.
They took care of their needs, helped them, accompanied them to races, kept them in good shape. So I had to work around that with the things I needed to do with them. It wasn't just interviews with journalists, it was social media content, and all sorts of different interviews with various people.
I was still sitting with them both, arranging our evening meetings inbetween their own commitments when they both came down the stairs from the driver briefings.
"Got my evening all planned out again?" Lando asked, dropping himself into the seat next to me. Daniel did the same next to Michael.
"Obviously" I answered, writing down some notes
"As long as I'm spending time with my favourite girl" he remarked. I rolled my eyes and pretended to be sick making everyone laugh.
After doing press, we made our way back to the trailer. I picked up my bag from my locker that some of us had, before putting on my sunglasses and leaving the room.
As I did so, I ran into what felt like a brick wall.
"Woah, slow down there" Daniel said as he grabbed my shoulders.
"Sorry buddy" I chuckled as I readjusted my bag on my shoulder, "come on then, let's go" I said ducking under his arm and walking ahead of him
"Buddy? No no no" he said shaking his head and putting his arm round my shoulders as we walked out of the trailer.
He was constantly in my space. It wasn't as offending to me as it was with anyone else.
"What is wrong with buddy?"
"Just absolutely not. Offensive that" he said
"Mhm okay" I answered, shrugging myself out of his arm.
"You're really into your personal space aren't you?"
"Quite" I answered him, we were heading towards the car park so continued walking together, "and you are not"
"You're learning all about me already"
"It is part of my job" I chuckled, fishing some keys from my bag for the car I drove to the track today.
"What else is part of your job?" He asked
"Why specifically?"
"Just wondering" he answered, "teams do it differently"
"I'm sure we'll learn the ins and outs as we go along" I said. We parted ways with a smile until later and I got into the car and set off back to the hotel for a well deserved break before dinner.
*knock knock*
I woke up to a knock on the door, realising I had fallen asleep, I jumped up and checked the time as I headed towards the door.
Lando was leaning casually on the corridor wall opposite my hotel room door, Daniel was obviously the one to knock.
"I'll be ready in 5 minutes" I said quickly. Leaving the door open as I headed back into the room to throw on some shoes and make myself look presentable.
"Why is your room better than mine?" Lando groaned like a child as he slumped down on the sofa.
"Because I have the two of you to look after" I said, running a brush through my hair "I have to have some perks"
"How does the driving arrangements usually work?" Daniel questioned, he was stood leaning against the doorframe.
"Alex normally drives. Half the time I will go with her. But it depends on what's she's got to do and what race we're at and things like that" Lando answered
"I'm also a reaaaaalllyy bad passenger" I chuckled, drawing out the word really to solidify my point
"Yeah and that" Lando confirmed
"Is that with everyone or just Lando?" Daniel asked. I laughed at his quick remark before grabbing my phone and herding them out of my room.
"Everyone" Lando sulked
"Like now, I will be driving" I said. The door shutting behind me and following them both down the corridor.
"I call shotgun" Lando exclaimed quickly
"No no, you have to be in proximity to the car before calling that" Daniel argued
"You're just saying that because you're slow and didn't think to do it" Lando countered
"No, it's the rules of shotgun"
"You'll both be in the back if you continue" I scolded, walking past them both and into the waiting lift.
"Yes mum" Lando said, nudging me in the side. I gasped
"Mum?" I shook my head "that's rude"
"How old are you?" Daniel asked.
"You never ask a lady that question" I chuckled
"Okay, but you're not a lady" Lando laughed, I shoved his arm. Daniel had a smirk on his face watching me and Lando jab each other
"I'm 27" I said looking at Daniel, "hence why he calls me mum because he's a baby" Lando shoved me back as the lift door opened in the garage and I walked towards my car.
Or rather the car I had provided by the team at this race weekend, another perk of my job.
