Something Gained

Chapter Ninety-Four

I was backstage with Sophie and Ben as Daniel, Lando, Zak and Andreas all went on stage together to be introduced and have a chat, along with all the other drivers, I sat on a chair nearby tapping away on my phone listening in to everything.
After it was done, Lando did some appearance with Kygo which was exciting, Daniel was going for dinner, I was finished for the day, so I left the track and went to the hotel on my own, which was actually quite lonely, I rarely left on my own. I always left with Daniel or Lando or both, but they had so much they wanted to see and do. I got into a oversized t shirt and laid on my bed, scrolling my phone, when it rang.

"Hello?" I spoke into the phone
"Alex, what are you doing?" Sophie's excited voice greeted my ears
"Erm, in bed?"
"No no no, get up, get ready. Ben and I will be there in 30 minutes"
"Why?"
"Because we're in Miami!!" She screeched, I had to hold the phone away from my ears as I laughed at her
"Okay okay"

I laughed and hung up the phone, so much for my plans to do nothing. Sophie, Ben and I had become a little group, Sophie was the same as me, Ben was I think a couple of years older, but they were good people, we had spent a few nights over the past couple of months going for dinners and a cheeky night out here and there, it was amusing to say the least.

"Girllllll, wow" Sophie smiled as I opened my room door when they knocked. I smiled and grabbed my bag from the side and walked out
"Not too bad yourself" I winked at her
"Ladies" Ben smiled and we linked arms with him and walked down the hallway
"Where are we going?" I asked them
"Who knows, let's see what happens" Ben smiled
"You two are an awful influence" I laughed at them
"As long as you don't kill us boss" Sophie laughed
"I've never ever got on this well with any boss it's so bizarre" Ben said as he held the lift door for me and Sophie to step inside
"I'm one of a kind" I winked at him. We all left the hotel and got into a car to take us somewhere to start the evening, it would be interesting to say the least.

"What's it like working with your boyfriend? Especially when they're a formula one driver?" Ben asked
"Fast paced" I laughed
"Oh yeah" Sophie winked at me
"Oh god not like that!" I laughed, realising my words
"I bet it is like that" Ben laughed
"God I dug myself a hole there. It's good though, if we didn't work in the same environment then I think it would be strained with how much we both work" I shrugged, sipping my wine
"I know what you mean" Sophie said, she herself had a family at home, it must have been hard for her to be away from them for so long
"Is it difficult?" Ben asked
"It is, I love my job and what it brings me. So it's a great distraction for being away, it means every moment at home is a blessing and means so much more" Sophie said
"Of course, it means so much more" I agreed, I was fortunate to not have anyone I had to leave behind, well not fortunate, I wish I had my parents around still, but it made me going away for my job was easier as I had no one else to think about, everyone close to me was with me "not to be a moany boss but we've got a long weekend and it's getting late" I laughed
"I was about to say are we ready" Ben said, he had looked at his phone, noticing the time of 11:30pm, Daniel would be back by now.

I walked into my room, the darkness made me think Daniel wasn't back yet. I walked through, dropping off my bag and phone on the counter and flicked on the light to the living room area, and screamed as three men jumped out yelling from behind the sofa.
"Yesss!" Michael and Blake high-fived each other and Daniel was roaring with laughter
"That is not funny" I scowled at them as I clutched my chest, I wasn't sure if I was going to escape a heart attack
"That so was" Blake was still laughing, Daniel was practically rolling around on the floor. I picked up a cushion and threw it their way, hoping to hit at least one of them.
"We've been waiting for you for ages" Michael said
"What are you even doing here?" I asked as Daniel calmed down as much as he could and came and stood behind me wrapping his arms around me
"Scaring you?" Michael chuckled
"Yes but shouldn't you be asleep?" Michael was normally quite strict on sleeping, food and training schedules
"This was so worth it" Blake smiled, he patted me on shoulder "but we'll go now. See you in the morning" he winked heading to the door
"You've started a war, you're aware of that right?" I shot the statement towards him
"Yeah yeah, bring it on" he laughed, Michael chuckled before saying goodbye and they both left.
"The war includes you" I shrugged Daniels arms off and walked towards the bedroom, ignoring his laugh. I took off my makeup and got changed for bed, noticing Daniel was leaning against the door way watching me. I got into bed and looked over at him.

"Going to stand gawping or are you going to join me and get back on my good side" I smirked, he didn't take much convincing before he ran over and jumped into bed, looming over me
"It won't take me long" he winked, "maybe you can give me some more of that winning spirit" he mumbled, before placing his lips on my neck, biting exactly where he knew would earn him a moan in his ear from me, his hands roaming everywhere.
