Alex POV
The day passed in a blur, before I knew it we were packing up at the end of the longest most exciting season for McLaren. Coming second in constructors, although it wasn't the win we hoped, it was the best result we'd achieved in a long long time, particularly against the last three years, I just couldn't believe it was my boyfriend that was the winner. I had already had to confirm their attendance for it, but I didn't imagine I would be confirming Daniel's attendance for the championship winner, although I believed in Daniel and I knew he could do it and I wanted him to, in my wildest dreams I never thought I would planning for a win, and a third place victory, it was a major achievement. My papaya boys! I had made that amendment before signing off the day, for the season really. We still had some bits to wrap up in the UK, but it was easy, made even more so by the thrilling end to the season. My days were numbered as I prepared for my move to Mercedes. As soon as we went on winter break, that was it. For now I was basking in the glory McLaren had achieved.
"Alex! Team photo!" I heard a yell from Andreas, I walked out of my office and he was outside waiting "come onnnnn!" He smiled. I followed him down the side where the team was, my team. I got into the photo, standing next to Zak and Andreas. Sophie and Ben on my right, cameras were on us everywhere, journalists, Netflix, or YouTube cameras, Ted and his notebook, everyone, I felt a sense of pride dressed in the orange uniform. Daniel and Lando came out followed by Jon and Michael who stood with them in front of us for the picture. The cheers and the yells, even on a bad day you could barely wipe the smile from Daniel's face, but today was a whole new level.
I smiled, I don't think I've been prouder of someone in my life as I have him, and Lando, what a job he's done this year, and been the most supportive teammate, when it became clear it would only be Daniel and Max battling for the title he made sure Daniel was prioritised for strategy, he was a true team player and he's was great. I was full of laughter when Daniel and Lando both picked me up and had me on their shoulders a farewell photo was taken, it nearly made me cry, but I couldn't cry because there was so much joy.
I found my way to Daniel's family while he finished off some bits, finding them in the mayhem. Issac and Isabella running around in circles, much to their parents dismay, but no one was fussed by them, it was late and they were probably overexcited.
"Alex honey" Grace waved at me, I slumped down in the chair next to her, physically my body was done, but mentally, emotionally, I was bouncing off the walls in excitement.
"You guys okay?" I asked them
"I just can't believe it" Michelle shook her head in disbelief
"I knew he had it in him, I knew it and I rooted for him and I'm so proud of him, but after the controversy of last year, I just wasn't hopeful it would play out for him, but I couldn't be happier. My son is a world champion" Joe said,
"I'm just speechless" I smiled "what a season, I'm so proud of him"
"I hope you're talking about me" my head snapped up to see Daniel walking over with Blake and Michael and Scott, hugs and kisses were exchanged everywhere once again before Daniel walked over to me and pulled me up.
"Happy?" I whispered to him as he pulled me in for a hug
"There is so many emotions, happy doesn't cover it" he said, I kissed his cheek before his mum and dad pulled him over. I sat with Daniel's three friends, I was in a daze watching him.
"The day has finally come" Michael said to me
"It has, I don't think I've ever been happier. Nothing can top this" I said to him
"Just you wait" Michael mumbled
"What?"
"I mean like the celebrations and things, it'll be ongoing for a while" he quickly said, I looked at him, he looked suspicious but I was distracted by Isabella running up to me and jumping on my lap.
