"I've just noticed we have a similar tattoo" Daniel said, he took my hand and had the excitement of a puppy.
His thumb stroked across the rose tattoo I had on my right hand. With his left hand over mine, I realised now that he had a rose on his hand.
I hadn't seen it before.
"That is so weird" I said.
"So what did you do before this job then" he asked, letting go of my hand, almost snapping back.
"Not a lot" I said simply, and quietly. If anything could stop me thinking of Daniel in ways I shouldn't, it would be the memories that came with my life pre-McLaren.
"Not a lot?" Daniel questioned, I avoided his eye now completely and looked out over the city.
"I wasn't working for a while before this job" I said
"Oh how come?" He asked
"Just was in a tough spot in life is all" I shrugged it off. But the feelings couldn't be shrugged off as easily as a roll of my shoulders.
"Tough spot?"
"Yeah, it's all good now" it wasn't, but that's what I had to say. Because you couldn't sit depressed all the time, besides, no one liked to see someone wallowing in their own grief or pity.
"Go on, tell me" he said
"I'd rather not talk about it?"
"I respect that, but.." my eyes snapped back to Daniel when I felt his hand on mine again. He was leaning forward in his chair. "-I am a good listener"
"I don't need a therapy session" I joked, but Daniel didn't laugh
"Okay, no therapy. How did you get into f1 then?" He asked, clearly sensing my discomfort and avoiding the topic.
I sat up a little straighter and let his hand slide off of mine that was on my lap.
"You know Liam, the mechanic" I said. Daniel nodded and continued, "I've know him for a while. A good few years in fact. I was always into racing, have always followed it anyway. So when he heard of this job opening, he told me and I went for it" I said
"And so here you are"
"Here I am" I said
"I must remember to thank Liam" Daniel said
"For what reason?" I questioned, my eyebrows furrowing.
"Well he helped our paths cross that's for sure.. unintentionally" Daniel chuckled
"Aw, grateful for me already are we?" A smug smile sat on my face which made Daniel laugh again.
"Maybe a little"
"I am truly hurt that you just said maybe a little" I gasped and that was it, he was laughing again
"Are you always this dramatic?"
"I won't be answering that" I said, getting up.
"Where are you going?" He asked immediately
"To get some water if that's okay?" I asked
"Of course" he said.
I made my way back into his room and to rhe counter that had most of the refreshments on it. This hotel had glass bottles of water, I picked up a glass, added some ice and was pouring some of the water in when I felt someone behind me.
I turned immediately and came face to face with Daniel... well, he was significantly taller than me so I was having to look up in order to see his face.
"Can I help?" I asked him
"If only" he answered. I raised my eyebrows at his cryptic answer, before I was wrapped up in the way he was looking at me. Staring at me, almost like he was deciding what to do.
I realised how close he was and took a step back awkwardly, but I hit the counter at the same time as Daniel stepped forward, cornering me.
This certainly was not helping me with trying to keep him separate from my personal life. My mind was spinning with what was happening when he leaned down a little.
"What are you doing?" I questioned him, although my own voice was betraying me now as it came out in some kind of weak mumble that was barely coherent.
I could feel his breath on my face, and feel the heat radiating from his body once again as he stood so close. My heart had joined in on the circus and was now racing in my chest, beating rapidly against my ribcage with a mixture of anxiety and anticipating.
"Daniel?" I questioned him once more, as he continued to have a battle. He didn't answer with me any words.
Instead he leaned closer to me, dipping his head down now and very nearly coming into contact with my face. I raised my hand against his chest, ready to push him away when he seized his opportunity and brushed his lips against mine.
I stood stunned by his actions. My thoughts were now screaming in my head that Daniel Ricciardo was kissing me and I was standing doing absolutely nothing to stop him.
My hand was still placed against his chest, but instead of pushing him, my body began betraying me all at once. My fingers curled and grasped at his t shirt. My lips seemed to move of their own accord and began kissing him back.
And just before I had enough time to process that, he pulled away from me and stood, still millimetres apart.
"I'm sorry I.." he began to say, but I cut him off by pulling him back in towards me.
In this moment, every sensible thought had disappeared. I wasn't thinking about my job, or my life, or about who this was. I was only thinking of myself and what my body was reacting to.
I certainly wasn't in control, my hormones were, my body was. Because before I realised, my hands were twisting into his dark curly hair, pulling him closer to me.
It had been such a long time since I had been kissed like this. I couldn't quite control myself. His hands slid from my face, down my sides and to my legs, as he lifted me up without warning and sat me on the counter.
Daniel
I let me instincts take over, and I knew I would regret it. I had done this a hundred times before. I knew how to play this game, how to work a girl. I wasn't using my brain. I knew this was Alex, I knew this was different, I knew this was essentially a work colleague and not some girl I'd picked up in a club that wanted a good time because of who I was.
Yet, I still was only thinking with my dick and nothing else.
But just kissing her was different to anyone else I'd ever kissed. Her lips were soft and moulded to perfection as they were against mine. Her hands were trailing all over my body. Through my hair, pulling at my t shirt, and I knew that she wanted this as much as me.
So I let my brain shut down while I did what I always did. I carelessly had my way with a woman.
She was pulling at my t shirt, and the only time we paused to breath was when she was tugging it over my head, throwing it to the floor somewhere. I rain my hand up her thigh, grazing her soft skin. She was only wearing shorts, so it was easy.
Her mouth felt open a little wider, and I took my chance, sliding my tongue into her mouth. She still didn't stop me. I was waiting for her to stop me, secretly hoping she wouldn't.
Things heated up, her fingers ran down my chest and I was pulling her top off her now, I moved my mouth down her neck, to the bare skin now on show, across her collarbone, I knew where I was going.
I'd learnt all the right spots, and as soon as I heard her gasp. I was picking her up and carrying her to my bed. J didn't slow down, I nudged one of her legs with my knee and climbed between them. She moved in the right ways, grinding against me, not that I needed any more encouragement.
