"Ready? "
"Yeah. ." I answer. We walk to the counter and I couldn't believe it. The tears started streaming down my face. Oh god..oh god. Why? I look up to Jase. He's biting his lip. Looking at the tests and reading the box.
"It's going to be great. " Jase says and I can't tell if he's pretending to smile or constipated.
"Jase, I can't do this." I say feeling my life shatter before me. I can't breathe.
"Yes you can. That's my baby and your going to love him or her." Jase says looking determined.
" It's too soon. I....."
"Dani, it's our baby. It's us. How can you be scared of something we created that's going to make our family." Jase says reaching out for me.
"Its just not supposed to happen yet."
"Timing will never be right. Something will always come up. I know we're young but we are more set up than most people twice our age."
"We are?"
"Yeah we are. I will talk to my coach about moving out of the dorms after this semester. I will move in here with you. We will make sure you don't gain too much so you won't have too much baby weight to lose. The baby will be born around May. We can hire my old nanny. She will move in. We will figure out how to work around lacrosse. Dani, we can do this."
"Okay, but what about work? I'm under contract? "
"You will have to talk to your manager. Get in as much time as you can. Im sure they can pose you different when the baby starts to show."
"Okay. ..."
"I will stay here this weekend and we will go to doctors monday okay?"
"Okay. ."
"Dani, I love you and I love our baby. I always knew that we would have a family. It's just sooner. I will get her a little jersey to wear to my games." Jase says and touches my flat stomach. I pouted looking at my tummy. I don't want to get big.
"Hey....what's going on?" Brody asks as he walks in.
"We're having a baby!" Jase says smiling.
"You mean babies." Brody says smiling back.
"Maybe. But definitely one is in here. We will go to the doctors monday and find out. " Jase says turning back to me.
"Oh..god.. I'm so not ready for this." I say pushing my hands thru my hair.
"We'll get thru this." Brody says pulling me into a hug.
"Let's go get cake and hang out with everyone? " Jase asks smiling. I just nod and hope there's a chance the test is wrong.
