Gabby's POV
•€•
November 2ndAlthough I wasn't an early riser, my anxiety couldn't help but consume me, waking me up from my shallow slumber.
I rolled over in the bed feeling for Jordan, his presence no longer there. My eyes caught a glimpse of the time, 7:22am plastered across the screen.
Rubbing the sleepiness from my eyes, I slowly located my phone, skimming over the messages I had missed in my sleep.
J💆🏾♀️❤️:
I didn't want to wake you, sleepyhead. If you're awake before 10 am, cll me. If not, I'll see you later. Behave yourself.
A soft chuckle escaped me as I read the message. The message came across as more of demand than a request.
My first steps for the morning were to take a scorching hot shower and follow up with brushing my teeth. My skincare routine was next in line and my hair shortly after.
Dialing his number, a smile subconsciously worked its way across my lips. The anticipation of hearing his voice causing my stomach to do backflips...or maybe I'm just hungry.
"Hey, you're up early," his voice sang after the second ring. I expected him to be on the train, however, he appeared to be inside of some cafe.
"I thought you said you were going to leave at 8," I said, my voice soft from being the first thing I've said all morning.
"Why...you miss me?" he smiled from ear to ear, earning an eye roll from me. Dare I say...I kind of did.
"Not at all. Let's humble ourselves," I said and his smile transformed into laughter. With the phone facing the ceiling, I continued to get ready as our conversation progressed.
"No but um...an old friend of mine wanted to meet for breakfast beforehand. I took the train to meet her and now I'm only like an hour away by train," he said in the most nonchalant way, his smile still gleaming as he sat in the busy cafe.
Her?
"Oh...okay," I respond as I continue to moisturize my skin. He chuckles and my eyebrows arch at the sound as my eyes travel to the phone.
"Gabby, put your face in the camera," he smiles and I hesitate before picking up the phone and making my face visible to him. "She's just an old friend. I promise you," he says and I internally smile, reassured.
"I didn't even say anything. You don't have to make me any promises," I said, contradicting my thoughts. A smirk found it's place on his face and my attempts at hiding my blushed cheeks failed as he began to wet his lips with a swipe of his tongue.
"You don't have to say anything for me to know what you're thinking. You get silent when you have something on your mind. Never does miss chatterbox only respond with 'oH...oKAy,'" he says earning a laugh that quickly dies down into a mug.
"Bye...Jordan," I say, my annoyed expression on display for him to see. This only causes his jeering smile to widen.
"Wait...what you doing?" he asks as my finger hovers over the end button. My attention is now fixed on my suitcase as I try to find an outfit for the day, the phone still making my face visible.
"I'm getting ready," I respond oblivious to the mischief that absorb his eyes as mine focus on the brown matching set and cardigan I pull from my suitcase.
"That's why you have your entire body on display for everyone in this cafe to see?" he says and I gasp as I carry the phone to a higher angle. As his laughter rose, I realized that nothing was on display.
