SWIPE AND HIT PLAY FOR MUSIC!
Jordan's POV
•€•
November 5thI've been calling and calling and she won't answer. I have no clue what's happening and this Uber is going five miles per fucking hour.
"How much further?" I ask and the driver responds in a foreign language that I can't recognize. Just my luck. I dial the number again.
"Hello," she says softly in a tone that renders me defenseless. She's scared and I can hear it in her voice.
"Baby, you okay?" I ask before she bursts out crying again. She's not a crier but I've been seeing it a lot lately. It pains me.
"Okay, Gabby. Relax. Listen to me. Are you hurt?" I ask. She takes a second to catch her breath and clears her throat. The background noise is overpowering her soft voice.
"I'm not but Maya..." she can barely hold the sentence before she's crying again. I look out the window and see that I'm still sitting in the same place. This New York traffic is enough to make a person go mad.
"Maya what? Is she okay?" I ask hesitantly. I heard the fear in her voice when she screamed her name during our first call. It was heart throbbing. A cry for help.
"I don't know," she manages to say and I feel uneasy. Who would shoot up an event like that? It makes no sense.
"Okay, Gabby. I'm headed to the airport right now. I'm on the first flight back. Don't worry I'm coming," the words roll swiftly off my tongue in efforts to comfort her.
She lets out a soft sigh of what sounds like relief and it plays like music in my ears. I revel in the fact that I can comfort her when she needs it the most.
"Okay but you didn't- you don't have to," she says as she still struggles to form her words. She's clearly contradicting her thoughts. How could I not when she sounds like this?
"I want to and I will. I'm already on my way," I say. I make it to the airport and I'm on the first flight I could get. The airport really is annoying.
She let me know that her phone battery was on 5% and she wasn't able to get a charger before I hung up. I haven't heard from her since I boarded the plane.
She drove my car from the airport when she came so the only other option I have is to get another Uber. It's almost 3 in the morning. The whole point of having a car is so I don't have to deal with this shit.
An hour drive from the airport and I'm at the hospital. It seems like I'm going to be here a lot.
"How may I help you, Sir?" the nurse at the front desk asks. I don't even know Maya's full name and I have no idea who the guy she was with is.
"Um...I'm looking for Maya. I don't really know her name. She's here with a Gabriella Mason," I say and the nurse seems to be as confused as I am.
"Do you know Maya's last name? We don't have a Gabriella Mason in our system," she says and I inwardly curse. I just said I don't know her name. I don't have the patience for this.
I simply walk away and hope that when I call her I will get her.
"Jordan," I hear from across the room and my eyes lock with hers. She seems so fragile when she looks at me like that. Like she can break at any moment.
"Hey," I manage to say as calmly as possible.
She offers a shy smile and I'm happy to see that she's okay. She really scared me when I heard her on the phone the first time.
