Ross check Demelza out, are you alright, yes but I don't think we've seen the last of Father. Joshua looked at Drakes face and said, "what happened?" "Father hit him." Demelza said. Demelza went to the kitchen a made a poultice for Drake's face. She went into him kissed his cheek then placed the poultice on told him to hold it there until she said to take it off. Drake said, "the kiss already helped. Joshua asked, "what is it?" Demelza replied, "herbs that will help take to sting out of the hurt." She hugged Willie then told him, "Thank you Willie, that was very brave of you." Sam said, "Hey Melz do you have anymore of the spells that rains on people?" Demelza turned to glare, she went to throw a rag at him, Sam ducted out the door laughing. They all stood laughing at the situation that Mary thought Elizabeth was curse. Mary said, "go ahead and laugh there is a history of fairies in Cornwall I tell ya!" She winked at Demelza and left laughing.

For the next two weeks things were starting to settle down, Sam and Ross investigated the 'China Clay' and found out that it would be very profitable, easier to mine then tin and copper, so they were starting plans to form the creation of the mining next to the Reith Cottage. Jenny would bring the babe in to see Mary, and Ann every day, Demelza loved seeing the little one. Jenny asked if she could talk to Demelza in private one day. They went into the parlor, there Jenny started crying and said, "Jim is going out at night to pouch with Nick Vingish. "Oh, Jenny are you in need of more tell me, I am sure Master Joshua would help?" "That's just it, we no be needin anything, his mom and Anne are takin care of, I am no sure why he is doing it? I thought maybe you could ask Mister Ross or Mister Joshua to talk to him." Demelza said, "I will talk to them." Demelza thought for a few minutes.," Jenny what does Jim drink for supper or in the evening?" Jenny said, "Ale." If I give you something to put in his drink, that will make him sleep and not wake up until morning will you do that? Jenny gave her a questioning look. "That way he won't hear Vingish when he comes knocking, so he won't be poaching." Jenny appearance changed when it dawned on her what Demelza meant she said, "I will do anything you ask."

That night after dinner and the boys were going to bed. Demelza broached the subject of Jim Carter, she told them of Jenny's concerns of him poaching, that Jenny didn't think it was something he needed to do now that they, his mother, and sister were well takin care of. Ross said, "Father would you like me to talk to him." Joshua said, "I think it may be better since you are more his age, and more verse with the pitfalls of the law." Ross chuckled more current with the law maybe, but I know of you escapades to well father. He smirked at his father, and Joshua laughed, his father said, well those days have long passed. Ross looked at Demelza smiling offering his hand he said, "well father we will be heading to bed, Demelza."

Going up the stairs he asked Demelza if she felt like a bath? Demelza giggled, "I don't know if it is the tub itself or the idea of sharing the space with a female?" Ross wrapped, "his arms around her and said only one woman my love." They made their way to the water closest Ross put the water on, Demelza, why don't you go and get us our night clothes. She went into the room, she bent over and got a dizzy spell put it left as she straightened up, not thinking anything more of it. She took their clothes back Ross was pouring the water in the tub. She started taking her clothes off when Ross stopped her. It is a husbands duty to help his wife, especially when it comes to disrobing. Ross untied her corset, he thought I will never get tired of touching this woman, my wife. Thank goodness Francis married Elizabeth so I could marry the woman that holds my heart.

Demelza got up the next morning gathered the clothes, started the bread baking. She made apple pies and then made a stew for supper. Jenny came around lunchtime she went up to Demelza and hugged her, telling her that Jim fell asleep, she couldn't rouse him when Nick came. Nick was so mad that he could no be wakened up that, he wouldn't call on him again. It is a good thing Jim did no go with Nick was caught, he will be going to be sentenced on the morrow. Demelza felt dizzy again grabbing on to the table Jenny ask if she be alright. She said, I am just a little lightheaded perhaps I should eat something. Jenny told Demelza to sit down she would get her tea and a biscuit. Demelza took one bite of the cookie and she jumped up and ran to the water closet. When she came back Jenny was smiling, "Demelza is there a chance you are with child?" Demelza went white she remembered what Melza East told her three weeks prior.
