Ross "went to see his wife and grabbed her hand, her head was turned away from him he said, Demelza, I am sorry I don't want you to think that I have any feelings for her. She had come to ask for my forgiveness she wants to be our friend. She is married to my cousin we need to show hospitality to them do we not? She made a no movement he thought she must be sleeping not wanting to wake her, he sat and held her hand." Maggy came up and went around to the side of the bed and Demelza turned her eyes to her. She said child please drink some tea it will do you good. Demelza barely shook her head. Ross knew now that his wife was awake, that she must still be upset with him. He heard Drake and Willie run into the Parlor thinking must they always be so loud. He stormed out of the room and yelled down, "could you please afford your sister some quiet!" Joshua came to the bottom of the steps and said, "like you are doing son?" Ross shook, he knew he was being unreasonable, but he was upset with the reaction from Demelza.

Maggy sat on the bed beside Demelza, "what is it child why do you weep. You must drink the tea it will help your energy to be restored." Demelza sat up and took the cup. Maggy was thinking of all the hard times this poor child has gone through, now to be put through this. She knew her heart hurt wondering how her husband could want to keep that woman close. If she has inquired from over to help her with her evil purposes what is to prevent her from doing it again. Maggy thought she and Melza were going to have to do a protection spell on Ross.

Ross came into the room and said, "you may leave now Maggy." Maggy turned to Demelza, "child do you want me to stay." Demelza shook her head handed the teacup back and turned away from Ross. Ross sighed he sat back down and wondered how things went from one extreme to another with his wife. Dwight said, she wants to trust me but does she. Well, if she wants to control who I have in my life, she is in for a rude awakening. He would never let anyone control him before and just because he got married does not mean he was going to turn his life over to a woman. He stood up, "since you seem not to want to talk, I will take my leave. I fancy going to Truro maybe I can get some much-needed attention there.

She heard the door shut, she had tears streaking down her face. She felt her heart breaking. Melza clutched her chest. Maggy said, she is heartbroken, I am not sure, but do you think some slip a charm on him. Both of the older women were thinking in the same direction. The problem was that if they did the spell to release him, they could do damage to his freedom of choice, and it could backfire on Demelza. Melza walked out of the kitchen Maggy watch her walk toward the beach, she knew what she was going to do. It was time the fairies in the area watched Elizabeth and Ross. Elizabeth to see she wasn't meeting with others with intention of harm and Ross to make sure he didn't destroy Demelza's, good heart.

Demelza cried herself to sleep, Maggy brought her supper up to her and Demelza refused it. She had no appetite, "Maggy," Demelza said, "is Ross downstairs?" Maggy shook her head. Demelza nodded and tears started to fall. It was dark outside when Demelza decided to go for a walk. Ross still wasn't home; she felt the need to walk to the Holy Well Cave. She stopped in by her brother's room and checked on them. She made her way downstairs she notices Joshua sleeping on the settle. She went quietly left the house and made her way to the cave where the fairies lived. She walked in and it was quiet no singing nor chanting no sparkles, she felt all alone. She sat down and dipped her hand into the water. In the water she saw Ross at a table with Francis, a woman Alyse was hanging off Ross and another woman was hanging off of Francis. She moved her hand to dispel the image. Then she saw Ann and Mary it looked like the same place Ross was, but they were not at the same table. Another wave of her hand and she saw Elizabeth primping herself for bed. She was so tired of everything; her mother's words came back to her. To your own self be true. Was she being true to herself by living with a man that had no intention of honoring his marriage vows? She cried for her mother, she cried to anyone that was listening to help her know what she should do. She laid her head against the wall placed her hand in the water and watched Ross while singing:
