Ross always knew there was something special about Demelza now he knew for certain. How she told him where to find the copper in Grambler. Her voice was like a siren. He wasn't sure about becoming a king, but if that was what he had to do to keep his wife happy he would. He was sort of already doing the work looking out for his tenants and the people of Cornwall. He wondered what it would take to become Demelza's husband in the fairies' eyes? There was no way he was letting another man have her they could admire, even desire her but never possess her. He rolled over spooned his wife and went to sleep.

The next morning Demelza woke early. She didn't feel well she ran to the water closet where she emptied her stomach. Which wasn't much because she had not eaten breakfast yet. Demelza went back to her room, where Ross was sitting on the bed putting his clothes on. "Demelza, what is the matter, you are as pale as ivory," Ross asked. She said, "I feel queer Ross, my stomach is churning and I just tossed my inners, in the water closet." Ross looked at her concerned, I will ask Dwight to come and take a look at you." Demelza shook her head, "nay Ross Aunt Maggy or Melza can tell me what is the issue." Ross thought she could protest all she wants but when it comes to her health, he will not compromise she will have a professional doctor.

They went down to break their fast and found Joshua and the boys sitting already eating. Demelza smelled the food and took off at a run for the water closet again. Joshua said, "what is the matter with the lass?" Ross said, "she said her stomach is upset." Melza came in and smirked at them, she sat Ross's breakfast before him. Then she went to her granddaughter. Finding her kneeling in front of the chamber pot, she pulled her hair back and held it until she was done. Then she got Demelza a wet rag and gave it to her to wash and wipe her mouth. Demelza got up, rinsed out her mouth, and put a piece of peppermint plant she kept in there to freshen her breath. Melza said, "Demelza when were your last courses?" Demelza thought then she thought some more. She said, "not since the time I came back from my honeymoon then I had it the following months, but I should have had it afore the Summer Soltis. Demelza touched her stomach. Meza looked into her eyes and placed her hand on her granddaughter's stomach, "about one and a half months I do think." Then Melza proclaimed, "praise be you have been blessed with a child the King will be beyond happy, not to mention you subjects." Demelza said, "Ross and Joshua will be excited too." Melza said "a true miracle."

When Demelza got back to the table, Ross and Joshua rose, Ross said, "my dear are you alright?" Demelza said, "never better." She thought I should tell Ross first but she was so excited she blurted out. "I am with child!" Joshua spit the bite he put in his mouth out, Ross's fork stopped halfway to his mouth as he stared at his wife. Once he regained himself, he jumped up and grabbed Demelza and swung her around kissing her and saying, "are you sure?" Melza said, "as sure as I have ever been." Joshua said, "Stop spinning her you will make the child dizzy, then Demelza will be vomiting again." He then came over and hug Demelza and said, "Congratulations my dear, he shook Ross's hand and said, "my first grandchild," as he pulled Ross in for a hug.

Drake said, "does that mean we will be uncles when she gives birth to the baby?" Ross nodded, "yes, and darn good ones, I do believe." Drake buffed his chest out and said, "I will be the best uncle ever." Ross helped Demelza sit he said, "I will ask Dwight to come and around and advise you on what you should and should not be doing." Demelza said, "oh but I thought maybe Melza and Maggy will help me." Ross looked at Melza and Maggy. "Well, I believe they are more than capable but I will have a doctor attend you, no offense Melza and Maggy, but this be our first and I won't take any chances on her or the baby." Melza and Maggy nodded. Melza said, "I would expect nothing less for her and my grandchild. Joshua said, "I am going to be a Poppy, oh my I need to get things ready on the estate, a nursery, of course, I will put it in the room next to your and Ross's"
