Ross sat at one end of the table with his father at the other. Demelza sat in between Melza and Maggy the boys, Sam, Willie, Geoffrey Charles, and Drake on one side. On the other side, Elizabeth's place was to be beside Joshua. She said, "really Ross, you want me to eat in the kitchen when this whole table placement was meant to keep us apart? It is not just me that see's your attraction to me, the brat sees it too. Willie had enough, "quit calling my sister a brat, if anyone here has earned that name it is you, you ugly crone." Elizabeth shrieked, Ross thought God she does sound like a crone. Elizabeth lunged toward Willie; Sam grabbed her arm. Sam snarled, "I have never hit a woman but if you touch one of my family, I will not let it slide." Joshua jumped and grabbed Elizabeth's other wrist, and said, "nor I you vile creature." Ross said, "Elizabeth it may be best if you pack your bags and leave, and you are mistaken we all see it is you that is delusional thinking I want to be with you. I have the woman I love more then anything, I was willing to be friends with you for Francis's sake but that is no longer an option. You have tried to turn me away from my wife and my wife from me for the last time. Gather your things and leave." "Where will I go, what of Geoffrey Charles," she questioned, "you would throw out your cousins son because of her"? Joshua said, "he will stay here, I will escort him back to his father after breakfast." Ross said, "it is not because of my wife I am sending you away, it is because of your attitude to the woman that I love, my wife."

Elizabeth humph, "no Geoffrey Charles will not stay here if I leave, he leaves." Joshua said, "you forget in the laws of our land, it is the father who makes the decision where and who his children live with not the mother. I have never agreed with that way of thinking until now." "Now get your things and get out of my house." Geoffrey Charles's lips started to quiver and Demelza got up and put her arms around the boy. Come with me, dear boy, let us see where Garrick is, he seems to be missing this morning." Elizabeth said, "I forbid that woman from touching my son." Ross looked at Elizabeth fury in his eyes, "Geoffrey Charles go with Demelza. Elizabeth shut up and leave now or I will throw you out bodily with only the clothes on your back." Elizabeth said, "you would not dare," as she lifted her chin. Ross stood, grabbed her by the arm, and pulled her shrieking like a banshee to the door where he unceremoniously throw her out. When he came back in there was a loud round of applause. Then they heard Demelza yelling at the top of her lungs and Elizabeth screaming. Elizabeth had boils breaking out across her face, her arms, and who knew where else. Demelza was saying, "boils will blister and burn until you leave and learn, you will listen to not touch this land or boy, for neither of them is your toy." Elizabeth was screaming she is a witch. Melza said, "she is no such thing, I am the witch. the guardian of the East and water, my name is Demelza East. This is a princess of goodness and light and the hope of the people around this land. You will forget what has happened here today and stay away from the land and the family. If you come in contact with any, without their consent, the boils will arise and stay with you until you have learned to stay away. Elizabeth's horse was brought to her she winced when she mounted it and was squirming when she had sat abreast the beast. Ross thought she must have boils on her arse too. He needed to talk to his wife and find out what is going on. Demelza said, "you will remember only the instructions you will keep."

Melza was looking at Demelza with love and said, "I was going to be leaving today to get back to the guardianship of the East, but I think I may have to stay for a while yet." Demelza said, "I do not know what changed your mind only that I am happy that whatever it is, you are staying." Maggy said, "even if she leaves, I will be here to serve my Princess." Ross said, "Demelza I think we need to talk." Demelza nodded. Melza grabbed her hand and said, "my dear you must tell him all if he agrees he will be one of our clan and will be granted the long life of our ancestors. His life will be connected to yours." Demelza nodded, "thank you grandmother, I will be truthful and honest with him do not worry." Melza said, "oh I am not worried but just wanted you to know what you must do." "Maybe we should all sit in the parlor and go over it with the whole family, then you and Ross can talk privately?" suggested Maggy. Demelza nodded, "Ross do you mind if we have a family meeting first with your father and my brothers it is things, they should be aware of too. Ross indicated that it would be fine and they all went into the parlor, except Geoffrey Charles who went with the groom to the stables.
