When Demelza and Ross retired for the night. Ross asked Demelza, "are you a fairy?" Demelza started laughing and said, "Judas, NO, are you thinking I am evil now or I cast a spell on you?" Ross said, "the thought has crossed my mind, but I knew of not a lovelier woman to put a spell on me. Thank you for choosing me if you did." Demelza giggled, "If I had that kind of power, I would put a spell on Elizabeth to make her disappear." Ross said, "what your brothers told me you did to your father, then the strange happening with Elizabeth and the weather." Demelza replied, "You do believe me to be evil, I am not fairy, they be beautiful, knowing spells. Do you think the Harrys,' or my fathers would be able to treat me such if I were, they would be frogs?" She walked away from Ross, getting ready to leave their room. Ross grabbed her and pulled her to him. "If beauty is the sign of fairies than yes, my love you are definitely one. Then he held her by the back of her head and pulled her to him his lips meeting hers. He said, not a sweeter woman can be found. You taste of honey." Demelza wrapped her hands around his neck, "are you sorry I trapped you and then married me?" Ross titled his head back and brought his eyes level to her, "no, my love, never; I bless the day my aunt brought you here and thank my grandfather for giving my mother his stepsister."

Demelza told Ross she was going to take a bath, he asked if he could join her. She retorted, "are you not afraid I will make you one of the wee folks and push you down with the water after?" He grinned, "it would be quite an adventure but no, I don't fear any of that, the only thing I fear is losing you. Demelza never leave me please, you are the star that leads me home. Go bathe, I will wait here." Demelza gave him sultry look, "I think we both fit in the tub rather well, don't you?" Ross, rushed toward her, "that I do." Grabbing her hand, he led her to the tub. After their 'bath' they lay sided by side on the bed. He said, "I need to go to the mine tomorrow, what will you be doing?" "I will probably be helping the Carters switch homes and maybe clean around here a little wash some laundry, have lunch with my husband and prepare dinner. Demelza you are the Mistress now you shouldn't have to do all that work, Ross all the extra work, of the boys and this big house is to much for Mary and Anne. Besides, I like taking care of my family's home. Ross told her to turn on her side, then he put his arm around her bringing her flush with his body. Holding her close they both drifted off to sleep.

Demelza dreamt of Maggy Dass and Melza East they were calling Demelza telling her to take her place among the fairies. In her dreams Maggy was young again and beautiful, Melza East was just as beautiful and seemed to be more powerful. Maggy seemed to serve her. Then Melza said, "my name is Demelza East fairy guardian of the East portal. You my dear granddaughter are destined to do great things to help humankind, be open to your gifts. Give when asked and punish where evil lives." Demelza said, "but I am not a fairy, Melza said:

Open you heart and you will see,

The fairies that come to serve you well

The love you have within you be

Free with your home and all that dwell

Will be blessed because of the key

Look on hatred for you to quell

Make this a place of love by the sea.

Demelza said, "what does it mean. I be not a fairy. Melza did you curse Elizabeth?" "We do not curse only punish those who wish harm upon good for their own personal gain," Melza said. "Maggy please tell her I be not a fairy," Demelza cried. Maggy replied, "I have known since I first saw you, the kindhearted girl, why do ye think I shared my secrets with you. Open your heart my child. Remember the poem." They both chanted as they faded away. Demelza woke with a cry saying, "I be not a fairy." "Open your heart make a place of love for thee and we. Open your heart, remember the poem,' Maggy and Melza kept saying. "I BE NOT A FAIRY," Demelza yelled!
