I woke up the next morning lying on the floor with my mom and Lucy on either side of me. They both were sprawled out on top of me. Last night had been the best birthday ever. After all the excitement with getting the tickets, we stayed up watching The Lucky One. It was a good movie I guess….but the only reason we liked it was because of Zac Efron….Damn he is dreamy.
I looked at the clock. 7:00 Am. “UHG! Hey Lucy get up! We have to get ready for school!”
Lucy groaned and slowly got up following me to my room.
I got a towel and my clothes and headed for the shower and I turned around to see Lucy lay down on my bed.
“Aren’t you gonna shower?”
“No…showering is over rated!”
“You’re sick…” I trudged to the bathroom
After we got ready we headed down to eat breakfast. My mom was sitting at the table with her hair pulled back in a bun wearing her usual dance wear: Black leo, and black dance pants.
“Good morning Momasita! How goes it?”
“It goes good my daughter. Let me just tell you your grammar keeps getting better and better….sometimes I wonder how you have straight A’s.”
“Well I definitely didn’t inherit my brain from you” I laughed
She glared at me and Lucy laughed.
I sighed. “I wish this year was as easy as last year. I miss having no drama and being friends with everyone….”
“I think what she means is that she misses Jakeypoo.”
“Shut up!”
Jake was my boyfriend last year. He was the typical rich boy, snobby, stuck up and completely full of himself….im not sure why I even dated him, but at the time it just felt right. I really like him and all my other friends too. We had a big group of friends. We all got along great and hung out all the time. Everything changed when my parents got a divorce. Jake broke up with me because I was too “Emotional” and all my friends took his side. Except Lucy and my mom of course.
“Are you having problems with any of those punks? I swear to God if the mess with you I will kick all of their asses!” She made some punching motions as if she knew what she was doing.
“No mom it’s fine. They stopped messing with me anyway and plus you don’t want to break one of your legs. You might need it for I don’t know…YOUR JOB!”
She rolled her eyes “Ok girls you need to hit the road if you want to make it to school on time! You both have dance after school so I’ll pick y’all up and take u over to the studio.”
“Okay Ms. Nicki….but did u seriously just say ‘Y’all’?”
“Yes and if you have a problem with that I can always give that ticket to someone else…..”
“NOOOO! No that fine! You know I love you!” my mom laughed and gave Lucy a quick hug.
“Bye mom”
“Bye sweetie!”
Lucy drove us to school. When we arrived at school we sat in her car until homeroom like usual. We didn’t like the rush to get the lockers. We walked into school and headed our separate ways to homeroom. Homeroom was the only period we didn’t have together.
“Bye, Bye my precious Alibu!” Lucy called out to me receiving many weird glances for students.
“See ya later psycho bitch!” She stuck her tongue out in response and we went our separate ways
School passed in a blur with nothing special really happening.
We walked out and my mom took us over to the studio. The dance studio was my second home. I have danced since I was 4 and I can’t imagine my life without it. Having my mom and Lucy at the studio made it ten times more fun. Tonight we had a lyrical class, ballet class, and then there is an hour break that me and Lucy use to choreograph while my mom teaches an adult hip hop class.
When we got to the studio I got changed in my pink tights and black leotard for ballet. I threw my hair in a messy bun and put on my pointe shoes. When I walked in I saw that Lucy was already at the barre waiting to start. She was wearing pink tights with a neon pink leotard. I rolled my eyes.
Ballet class was boring and painful and I had a smile on my face when it was over. Lyrical was next. We warmed up in the middle of the room while songs by The Gaze blasted in the room. We did some leaps across the floor and then started working on a dance to the song happy by Leona Lewis.
I danced around the room feeling like I was flying. The feeling I got when I danced was like no other. When we finished the dance me and Lucy went to the other room for our break. We danced to a few songs that we made up dances to of course by the Gaze and then we just laid down on the floor totally exhausted.
“Can you believe this Friday is the concert?! Every time I think about it I almost pee myself!” Lucy laughed and nodded in agreement.
“I can’t wait to see my sexy little Noah banging his drums and singing his heart out…..damn….I would so do him!” She sighed in content.
“Well I can’t wait to see me twins up there! They are so cute! EEK”
“Would you do them….at the same time?” She raised her eyebrow at me and we burst out laughing.
The rest of the week flew by in a blur and it was finally Thursday! The concert was tomorrow! Mom said I could ditch tomorrow so we could drive up early, and Lucy would meet us there.
