Tragic Harmony

Chapter twenty-two

I woke up and moaned. My head felt like it was gonna explode.

“That’s what I thought.”

I turned my head and saw Luke smiling at me. He handed me some pills and I took it without complaint.

“What happened?” I moaned not remembering anything from last night.

“Well you for some reason decided to drink your weight in alcohol.”

“I don’t drink.”

“Uh well-being that you have a pretty bad hangover, I think you DID drink.”

“UHG! My head hurts.”

“I know. Ali what happened? Why did you drink?”

“I don’t know….How drunk was I?”

“Uhhhh….it wasn’t that bad.”

“Oh God. What did I do?”

“Well when I found you, you were stumbling around totally confused. Then when I found you thought I was a superhero and kept asking me to show you my powers. Then you kissed me, which wouldn’t have been too bad except the fact that you were totally wasted. Then I walked away for one second and when I got back you were crying and yelling at Jason. For a second I thought you were gonna tell him about your mom….but then I showed up and stopped you.”

Then I remembered. It all came back to me. Seeing Jason kiss that girl….

I suddenly burst into tears. Everything was just so overwhelming. Luke, Jason…..my mom. I just couldn’t handle it anymore.

“Ali shhh its okay. Tell me what happened.” Luke said pulling me into his chest. This only made me cry harder. He was so sweet to me. I really did like him…..A lot. Suddenly I did something that surprised both of us. I looked Luke in the eye and leaned in and kissed him. It wasn’t one of those passionate kissed with fire. It was a slow and sweet kiss that made my heart flutter. He quickly returned the kiss and cupped my face in his hands. He then rested his forehead on mine and looked into my eyes.

“I’m not drunk anymore.” I whispered.

“I know” Luke smiled.

We then laid on my bed in silence just enjoying each other’s company. My mind fluttered to Jason. For some reason it really upset me that he had kissed that girl. I know we weren’t dating….and I definitely didn’t like him or anything….but it just hurt. I wonder if it would bother him knowing I kissed Luke. Never mind I need to just forget about him. I’m not really sure why I kissed Luke, I just felt like he was always there for me and it just kinda happened.

“Don’t we have to clean before your parents get home?”

“Actually took care of it. You slept a long time. Its already 3.”

“Oh….Uhg Luke remind me never to drink again.”

He kissed my forehead. “Of course.”

My phone then started to ring. Luke picked up and answered for me. “Hello…..No this is Luke….yeah she’s right here.” I grabbed the phone.

“Hello?”

“Hey Ali its Jenni. So what happened last night!? I heard you yelling at Jason.”

“Oh ummm its nothing.” I looked over at Luke. “I’ll tell you later.”

“Okay ill come over later! Bye Bye!”

“Bye.” I smiled.

I managed to get myself out of bed and do most of my homework. Luke went to hang out with Kevin so I was alone when Jenni arrived.

“So how was Jack last night?”

“Well from what I remember he was amazing! After we sobered up, he held my hand and kissed me on the cheek! I almost DIED! Can you believe it! Do you think he will ask me out! OHMYGAWDDDD!”

I laughed. “I’m sure he likes you! Just be patient!”

“So what about your little love triangle. I mean I saw Jason dancing with that girl…but I also remember him dancing with you. So what’s up with that?”

“Well, when we danced he was acting really sweet. He even sang to me in my ear. He knows exactly what to do to make me feel special but then he just ruins it! I walked away for 15 minutes and when I went back to look for him he was having a make out sesh with that same girl! Jenni I’m not gonna pretend like it didn’t bother me because it did, but I’m NOT gonna let him toy with my emotions….especially since I already have someone that actually cares about me.”

“Wait? Luke?! OHMYGAWD! What happened!!!”

“Okay well last night I tried to kiss him when I was drunk, and this morning he was just so sweet. He got me pills and I kinda had a break down. Luke is always there for me no matter what and when I looked at him this morning I just kissed him. I couldn’t help it.”

“I knew you liked him Ali, but you aren’t using him to get back at Jason are you?”

“No…..”

“Because if you are, I bet it would work…..I KNOW Jason likes you Ali!”

“Jenni! No he doesn’t! I like Luke!”

“Yep….okay…whatever you say!”

“Jenni I’m serious!”

“Ali you can’t keep denying your feelings.”

“Jenni!”

“I’m gonna go now. See you tomorrow. LOVE YA!”

And she was gone. I sighed. Why couldn’t ANYONE believe me. Well tomorrow I’ll show them ALL how much I DON’T like Jason and how much I DO like Luke. I smiled to myself.

My phone then rang and I sighed. I answered it. “Hello.” I said in an annoyed voice.

“Well hello there grumpy.”

“Uhg it’s you….”

“Nice to speak to you too!”

“What do you want Jason?”

“I was just wondering if you were okay. You were really drunk last night.”

“I’m fine okay?

“Well okay then…..”

“Bye.”

I hung up. Who did he think he was? Calling to check on me? UHG!
