Chapter Twenty-three

The next morning I was super happy. I only had a little bit of a headache but nothing unmanageable. I realized that I was up before everyone else so I decided I would go wake Luke up. I walked into his room saw his sleeping frame. I slowly walked over to the bed and quietly sat down. I leaned over and kissed him on the forehead. He didn’t budge.

“Luke.” I whispered. Still he didn’t budge. I grunted. Why was it so hard to wake guys up?

“LUKE!” I yelled in his ear.

He jolted upright flinging the blanket on me.

“Ali! You scared the shit out of me!”

I started cracking up. “Sorry! I tried to wake you up gently but you wouldn’t budge!”

“It’s okay.” He sighed and leaned back against the bed frame. I scooted closer and cuddled against him

I looked down at his bare chest and gasped. There was a bruise on his stomach and right around his neck. I placed my hand on the bruise on his neck and tears began to well up in my eyes. “Luke. When did this happen.” I whispered.

He sighed. “Last night. Robb wasn’t thrilled when he found out about the party. He woke me up and threw a couple of punches, but then he grabbed my neck.”

“Luke. Please. Please let me tell someone.”

“Ali we have talked about this already. I’m fine.”

“Luke! Please!” I Started panicking. “Luke I can’t lose you too. I can’t lose you.”

“Ali I’m right here…Shhh. I’m right here.”

I cried into his shoulder. “I will talk to mom.”

I sighed. “Thanks Luke.” I said with a shakey voice.

He cupped my face in his hands and wiped my tears away. He then leaned in and kissed me on the lips. I kissed him back breathing in his scent.

He pulled back and looked at me. “Ali, Will you go out with me?”

I smiled. “Yes Luke I would love to go out with you.”

We got ready for school and I climbed downstairs and went to the kitchen.

“Ali!” Ryan called running over to me.

“Ry!” I yelled picking him up and hugging him.

“I missed you!” I kissed him on the cheek.

“I missed you too!” I set him down and walked over to Emma.

“Hey Emma..”

“Good morning Ali! Did you have fun?”

“Yeah! It was great.”

Luke came down and couple minutes later and grabbed my hand. Emma gave us a questioning look, but before she could say anything Luke pulled me out the door. 

I walked into school with a smile plastered on my face. Luke had his arm around me and was rubbing my arm. “Walk me to homeroom?” I asked.

“Of course.”

We walked up to my homeroom and walked inside the classroom. I knew that the boys and Jenni would already be there and I smiled to myself. I turned to look at Luke. He grabbed my hand.

“Don’t get into any trouble okay?”

“I’ll try.”

I then wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. Luke kissed back sliding gently.

I heard someone clear their throat and I pulled away and blushed.

“See you at lunch.”

He kissed me on the cheek and left the room. I turned around and smiled. I walked up to my usual desk next to Jenni and Noah, with Jason, Jack and Finn in front of us. I sat next to Jenni pretending like nothing happened.

“Ali Carson what the HELL was that!?”

“Luke asked me out. I like him…he likes me. I thought I already told you that.”

She sighed. “Okay.”

I then turned to Noah. “Hey Noah! Did you have fun at the party?”

“Yeah it was a blast! So….you and Luke huh?”

“Yeah.” I smiled to myself.

“Well I’m happy for you.” Noah said

“Thanks!”

“Hey Jack, Finn! Did you guys have fun?”

“Totally!” Jack said winking at Jenni who giggled.

“Yeah, thanks for inviting us! I heard you had a lot of fun too.”

I laughed. “Yeah I had a little too much to drink.”

“Psh” Jason grumbled. What was his problem?

“Yeah well it happened to all of us at some point.”

“At least I was a funny drunk.”

Finn laughed. “Yeah well you and Jason have that in common! This one time after our first show she snuck some beers back to our hotel. Jason drank the majority of them and walked around the hotel asking if anyone had seen his mommy. Not to mention is was butt naked!”

I started cracking up. “Would you just shut up Finn. It wasn’t even that funny.”

“Yes it was!” Noah joined in. “At one point he even was knocking on people’s doors asking for his mom! You should have seen those people’s faces!”

“Wow Jason who would have thought you would be one of those drunks.”

“Whatever.” He said turning away.

“What’s his problem?” I asked Finn.

He just smiled and shook his head. Why does everyone know something I don’t?
