Nicolai's POVFive days later.
"Sir, you have no more meetings for the day"
Lexy my new secretary told me.
"All right"
I answered and hung up the phone right after.I hired Lexy a few days after my old secretary Brenda died.
Unlike Brenda Lexy does her job professionally and doesn't try every chance she gets to hit on me.
Anyway, after I put down the phone I started collecting all my papers and getting ready to leave.Once in front of the door before opening it I passed a hand through my hair and waited a few seconds trying to get rid of that stupid smile I had.
When I finally decided to grab the handle and open the door the first thing I saw was the figure of Kyla standing to the right of the door, she was wearing her black suit and had her hair free.Must have noticed my presence because she immediately turned her head towards me and gave me one of her smiles that I seemed to receive more and more often lately.
A smile was about to escape to me as well but I held it back.
"I'm done for the day, let's go"
I said starting to walk towards the elevator.
"Yes sir"
She replied starting to follow right behind me; my feet itched to slow down and walk next to her so that I could peek at her face but not even finished that thought that we were already there. We both went inside the elevator and I pressed the number of the ground floor.
We were standing at short distance from each other, having her so close made me want to turn around and look at her
even for just a moment, so I did just that.I turned my head and apparently we had the same idea cause for a few seconds we just stood there staring at each other but then realizing the situation I brought my head back in its original direction.
At the sound of the elevator arriving I waited for the doors to open, let Kyla out first and then followed her; both of us heading towards the building's parking lot.
Once inside the car I threw my head back against the headrest sighing and loosened my tie.
In the meanwhile I could feel her gaze on me and when I turned to her she cleared her throat and lowered her head."Tired?"
She asked, moving her gaze towards the window.
"Not really"
I replied before starting the car and setting off."Do you mind if I put some music?"
She asked already reaching out to the screen of the car even before I could give her an answer.
"Actually yes"
I told her even though that wasn't true, I just liked watching her reactions."Come on"
She said whining as she turned to face me with her body, I just shook my head with a smirk and turned to her for a second to see that she was looking at me with slit eyes.
"Well I'm sorry for you cause Imma do it anyway"
Se mumbled making me chuckle. After fussing for a while on the screen, a song called "OOOUUU" by a certain Young M.A started playing and she started rapping.
"I ain't gon' lie, I'm a little smizz
I'm a little drizz
But we in the club man, ooh
Yeah, they hate but they broke though
And when it's time to pop they a no-show
Yeah, I'm pretty but I'm loco
The loud got me moving slow-moAyo Tweetie, where the hoes bro?
Ayo Keys, where the hoes though?
That other nigga, he a bozo
It's M.A, you don't know, ho?
We got liquor by the boatload
Disrespect the Lyfe that's a no-no
All my niggas dressed in that rojo
I ride for my guys, that's the bro code"I peeked in her direction a few times amused by the way she got into the song; she started gesturing and dancing in her seat as if her life depended on it.
After a few seconds tho I turned my attention back on the street biting my lips to try and hold back a laugh."My brother told me fuck 'em, get that money sis
You just keep on grinding on ya hungry-"She stopped singing when heard a phone ringing, precisely hers.
She got up a little from her seat and pulled it out of her back pocket, then turned down the music and answered the call."Ayoo do you miss me? I know you do"
Axel's voice said as soon as the call was accepted; she chuckled while placing the phone in a better position in front of her.
"Yea sure you keep telling yourself that. What's up?"
She said with a smirk and a laugh was heard from the other side.
"Nothing much I just wanted to hear from you.
What about you.""We're going home now, luckily we're done for the day."
She said peaking at me but then returned her attention back to the phone just after.
"Ohhh I see, you're in the car with Mr. Morello ..."
I heard Axel say and also noticed that his voice held something else as if he meant something that only the two of them knew.I turned my head to Kyla and she did the same giving me a tight smile but for some reason that seemed forces to me.
Furrowing my eyebrows in confusion I brought my attention back to the road."Axel .."
She then said through her teeth in a warning tone."I didn't say anything and anyway, there wouldn't be anything wrong abou- Heyy Kyla"
Another voice interrupting what Axel was saying.Kyla let out what I perceived to be a sigh of relief before addressing the person, which I understood was Josh.
"Hey josh"
She said and then I noticed her mouthing "thank you" to him, he giggled causing my eyes to roll on their own and then spoke again."I miss you here K, it's not the same without you"
He said and at those words my jaw clenched and my grip on the wheel increased."I miss you too guys but don't tell Axel I said that"
She said, holding the phone close to her face whispering the last part causing a chuckle from Josh and Axel, who I assumed was still there."I heard you"
Axel said making Kyla smile.
After a few more minutes they hang up and we arrived at home.I parked the car and we both got out, once in the house the first thing I did was going to the kitchen and take a bottle of water.
When I saw that she was next to me I offered her one but she refused.
"I'm going to train down in the gym so ... if you need me you know where I am"
I nodded while drinking the water and immediately after she left.Three hours later
I checked the time on my phone and saw it was already five in the afternoon, which means that I stayed almost all afternoon working even though I was supposed to have the day off.
Running a hand through my hair I sighed and leaned back against my chair.I wonder what Kyla's doing, maybe we could do something like watch a movie.
I thought, getting up from my chair and heading out of my office; first I went to look for her in the gym, then in the living room which I understood by now to be her favorite part of the house but not finding her even there I headed towards her room.
Once in front of her door I knocked but got no answer.
"Kyla"
I called her, opening the door slightly to see if she was there and in fact she was laying on the bed sleeping.
Smiling at the weird position she was sleeping in I closed the door and went into the living room, turned on the TV and started watching a movie on Netflix.Half an hour later I heard someone knock on the door, then ring the intercom and since I wasn't expecting anyone I took my gun and headed for the door.
When I opened it I was met with ... my brother and behind him was Axel.
"Oi, put that thing down it's just me."
Damiano said raising his hand in front of him with his usual smirk.
Rolling my eyes I sighed and moved to the side opening more the door.
"Entrate(come in)"
I told them and they did just that."What are you doing here Damiano?"
I asked leading them to the kitchen to offer them something to drink.
" Niente, non posso venire a trovare mio fratello una volta ogni tanto?(Nothing, can't I come and see my brother once in a while?)"
He said taking a place on the couch, smiling suspiciously. We then started talking about this and that until Axel's voice interrupted us.
"Mr Nicolai is kyla home by any chance?"
He asked me with eyes almost full of hope.
"Call me just Nicolai out of work and yes, but she's sleeping in her room"
I told him and immediately after he ran away, causing Damiano and I to chuckle at his reaction and we continued with our conversation.
