XLIV

I had just woken up and was in the shower thinking about the previous night, the kiss with Kyla and everything that happened after.

It was a strange thing for me, I wasn't one to kiss the women I slept with let alone the ones I hadn't been intimate with yet, but she wasn't like the others.
In that kiss there were so many emotions that just remembering them now makes my heart beat just as fast as last night.

After everything that happened I realized one thing, and that was that I was falling in love with her; I've never loved any woman and I don't completely know what that means but I'm definitely sure that what I feel for Kyla can be defined as love.

I want to ask her out on a date.

I thought as I got out of the shower and started changing into my work clothes.
After a few minutes, however, I heard my phone ringing so I took it from my bed and a soft smile appeared on my lips seeing that it was my mother who was calling me.

"Ciao Mamma(hi mom)"
"Ciao amore mio, come stai? (Hi my love, how are you?)"
My mom said in her tender voice and I could hear her smile through the phone.
"I'm fine, you?"
"I am not really-"

My heart I think had a tiny collapse at those words and my body got up from the bed automatically.
"What happens? You're sick? I'm coming, give me ten minutes-"
When I heard her laugh from the other end of the phone I froze as I was already putting my pants on.

"If you had let me finish I would have told you that I'm not so well because I miss my two beautiful boys"
At her words I let out a sigh I had been holding and sat back on the bed.
"You could have said that straight away mom, I was worrying"

I ran a hand through my still wet hair hearing her giggle again.
"I'm fine and so is your father, piccolo mio (my little one)"
I love my mother with all my heart and I really don't know what i'd do without her and her dramatic self sometimes.

After changing into my work clothes, still on call with my mom, I went into the kitchen and saw her already sitting at the counter also on a call with who I figured out was Axel.
"Good morning beautiful did you sleep well?"
I said with a smirk as I approached her then gave her a kiss on the cheek, noticing the way she got flustered I smiled heading over to the fridge to get an apple for me and one for Kyla.

"Morning and uhm-yes I slept well thanks"
She said after I gave her the apple immediately moving her eyes back to her phone again, obviously embarrassed.

Sooner or later we would have to talk about the kiss and everything else that happened between us and I'd have also taken the opportunity to ask her out on a date, it made me nervous even tho I'm not the type to get nervous or excited about talking to a woman.

"Who is it?"
I heard my mom asking reminding me we were still on the phone.
"My son I love you with all my heart but I really hope for you that the voice I just heard is not that of that Clara who is always with you or God forbid I will take the first flight just to spank you, and I don't care if you're grown up now because nobody can take a spanking away from you"
My mom started yelling at me reminding me again how much she doesn't like Chloe.

"That's not Chloe mom don't worry it's my bodyguard Kyla"
"Good, because I don't like that Clara at all"
When I heard Kyla laugh I turned to her and closed my eyes slowly realizing that I had just been threatened by being spanked by my mother in front of the girl I like.

"Mom I have to go now"
I said turning back to the fridge running a hand over my face.
"Oh okay ah and next week your father and I are coming to visit and to celebrate your birthday and see the training sessions in preparation for the gala"

With a groan I threw my head back closing my eyes.
I was happy that they were coming but a little less about celebrating my birthday which had always been insignificant to me.

"I love you my love and tell your brother I'll call him later, bye!"
"Okay mamma(mom) see you soon and I love you too"
I then hung up and set the phone down on the counter before turning around only to see Kyla already looking at me with an expression I couldn't decipher.

"Everything okay?"
"Sure. Let's go?"
She said giving me a tight smile before getting up and walking towards the door.

Today we were supposed to go to the mension to start preparations for the gala and come up with a plan against Alekzandr who would also be attending and knowing him he could pull some shit oh his.

As we were walking towards the wing of the room where the meeting with everyone was supposed to take place I noticed that kyla had still that lost expression.

"Are you sure everything's fine?"
Staring ahead of her she simply nodded continuing to look at me nothing in particular; I gripped her chin lightly making her look up at me and kissed her briefly on the lips before opening the door and walking into the room full of my men.

Kyla's POV

I nodded at something Nicolai had just said,
that day I wasn't paying attention to anything, my head was stuck on the fact that in less than a month, November 24th, would be the anniversary of my mother's death.

Listening to the conversation Nicolai had with his mother had left a bitter taste in my mouth, I guess deep down I was a little jealous because I wanted to be able to talk to my mother one last time, feel the warmth of her body enveloping me in one of her hugs that I missed like air.

When I felt my chin being grabbed lightly I raised my eyes and met those of Nicolai who looked at me with a new emotion I couldn't put my hands on; he then placed a delicate kiss on my lips as if wanting to communicate something to me that words couldn't explain and immediately after turned towards the door entering the room.

It took me a few seconds to recover because that kiss brought back memories of the previous night, causing my cheeks to warm.
Puffing some air out I got inside as well and as soon as I set foot in the room I felt everyone's eyes on me; all the men under the power of the Morellos were there but instead of bending under their gazes, I straightened my back and lifted my chin so they understood that I wasn't intimidated by them.

Seeing Axel and Josh I started walking to take a seat next to them but as I walked I could hear some of them laughing under their breath and whispering things to each other giving me little glances, I rolled my eyes and pretended not to notice trying to ignore some of the comments I heard as I passed but one in particular made me stop in my tracks.

"With that body and that pretty face she's really wasted on this job, but I'm sure the boss only keeps her to fuck her lucky bastard"
He said and the one next to him grinned before they both realized I was right next to them and that I heard everything, so I turned to face the two leaning slightly so only they could hear me.

"You'll be luckier if I don't kick both your asses sending you back to your mothers to teach you the education that you apparently forgot when you believed it was acceptable to talk like this to a woman"
At my words their cocky smiles slowly disappeared from their faces giving way to incredulous expressions.

"Oh and by the way yeah, the boss fucks me so fucking good I'm surprised you still haven't heard my cries of pleasure coming from his office"
I said biting my lip before walking off again with a smirk at their expressions.

The meeting went way too slowly and I paid attention to half of what we talked about.
From what i understood the gala will be in honor of Nicolai's birthday and also to make new allies; it will also be very risky because there will be their enemy Alekzandr with whom apparently they have been enemies for generations.

I also learned that we would start an intense training tomorrow before the gala to keep us fit and prepared for any eventuality and unlike the training we normally did this time we would have to challenge each other in a demonstration and to be honest I couldn't wait for it.
