"The day has finally come when you will pay for what you did to me... Dad"
As these words left my mouth his expression didn't budge, the only thing he did was stare at me for long seconds until he finally opened his mouth."You are just like your mother"
He said, his eyes going soft and glossy which made me even angrier making me grip the gun that was still pointed at his chest until my knuckles were clear."Don't you even dare mention her, if she were still here she would have been disgusted by you both as a man and a father"
My voice was breaking and my eyes were starting to burn but I tried my hardest not to collapse at that moment, at my words an expression of pain crossed his features for an instant."You ruined my life, I just want to know why, why didn't you even try to love me, why did you decide to throw me away like a useless object because that's how you made me feel for six years and I hated you every single day for it, I wished you felt even half the pain you put me through"
I said louder this time feeling something liquid and salty run down my cheeks ending up on my lips."I am sorry. I'm sorry for everything I did to you my daughter, after the death of your mother the world collapsed on me, I no longer recognized myself and I threw my anger on you because I felt like a failure as a father for not having been able to love you as you should have been choosing the easiest way abandon you and believe me I die for this every day since that day"
He said after a moment of silence making me lower my eyes hearing his useless words, they weren't a justification and nothing can ever justify what he did."When mom died you were not the only one whose world fell, I lost part of my world when she left but I thought I still had you by my side but apparently I was wrong, maybe it's also my fault because deep down I knew that you would never have been able to really love me.
You know I heard when you told mom you wouldn't be able to love me before she died but I ignored it, I forced myself to believe that they were words of pain spoken by a man who was about to lose the love of his life."I said as a sob made my back vibrate and many other tears were flowing down my face, even a tear had fallen on the face of the man in front of me but it didn't shake me even a bit, the anger I felt inside was too fierce.
"I hate you"
I whispered as I heard a chair squeak on the floor before seeing blonde hair appear near him.
"Kyla please"
That voice I hated so much said making me turn to the other person who contributed in part to everything that happened."Ellen, I see you're not laughing anymore, you know, I still remember the way you laughed while I prayed and yelled to both of you to not leave me alone in that place"
I spat at her with venomous words seeing how she lowered her eyes."I was an immature girl at the time Kyla, every day guilt eats me for what we did to you"
She said crying making me roll my eyes now full of their bullshit.
"You were just a bitch Ellen and you were a coward who didn't know how to take responsibility"
"Kyla"
I felt a hand on my shoulder making me lift my head to meet the red teary eyes of my best friend who I didn't even realize was in the room.He wiped a few tears from my face before gently taking the gun from my hands and when I was about to turn around without taking another look at the two I immediately stopped in my tracks.
"Mom, dad"
A child's voice said and the instant I turned around I saw a boy run into the room and grab onto Joseph's leg reaching out his arms so that he would pick him up, and he did just that after giving me a quick glance.
Even without the baby calling them mum and dad I could clearly see that he was their son, the moment he gave me that guilty look I literally felt my heart break into a thousand pieces.I was the problem then.
I thought looking at the man in front of me who didn't even have the courage to meet my eyes.
"How old is he?"
I asked in a broken voice looking first at my father and then at Ellen but both didn't answer so I turned to the boy.
"How old are you baby?"
He looked at me before flashing me a toothless smile.
