XXIX

I hummed as I slowly plunged into the tub, I lowered myself until my head was the only thing left out of the water.
I was enveloped by the wonderful scent of white musk and roses to which I am now accustomed; the foam covered me entirely, leaving almost no glimpse of my nakedness.

I looked around admiring the beautiful furniture of the bathroom, the dominant colors were black and dark gray with some gold detail here and there.
The shower was very large with a mirror in front of it from which you could see yourself while taking a shower.

Nicolai had just finished showing me around the house although, we actually discovered it together since not even he had seen it in person yet but only from the pictures his real estate agent, I think was the girl with red hair from earlier, sent him.

The house itself is beautiful and also the furniture I must say but the rooms that I definitely like the most are the kitchen and the living room, which are the places where I will certainly spend most of my time.

I closed my eyes leaning my head back against the tub and took a deep breath before sighing again, a soft smile formed on my lips and my mind began to wander lingering on the conversation I had a few hours before with Axel, about the fact that, according to him, I felt something romantic towards Mr Morello.

At that thought a laugh escaped my mouth and even when I stopped a smile remained on my lips until it slowly started fading away until it was no longer there.

The fact that I couldn't even think or believe that anyone could really have genuine feelings for me and that I couldn't be truly happy with someone made my heart clench in pain.

I just wish I could trust people again, I wish I could forget the pain my father left me with.
I would like to be able to leave everything behind and allow someone to love me for who I am, for all the scars I carry both internal and external.
I want to be able to love and be loved, to believe that there is someone out there willing to fix my broken soul.

At that point my face changed into an expression of anger, sadness and pain; my heart started to beat faster and my breath to speed up.

I knew I was about to have a panic attack so, to avoid it I plunged my head under the water holding my breath until I felt my heart slow down a bit, just so I could calm down.
But, when I heard some slight thuds coming from the surface I resurfaced and heard a voice and knocking on the door.
"Kyla, are you okay in there?"
Nicolai's voice said from outside.

Running a hand over my face to get rid of the water from my eyes I replied.
"Yes I'm fine"
I told him and heard a soft sigh coming from his direction followed by a moment of silence.

"menomale(thank goodness)"
He said softly in Italian but somehow I managed to hear him.
"Dinner is almost ready so come to the kitchen when you're done."
He said and afterwards I heard footsteps leaving.

Breathing out I finished washing and got out of the tub wrapping myself in a towel, then I went to my room and started to oil myself with scented oil, I dressed in a pair of black shorts, an oversized t-shirt and obviously my pair of socks with the characters of the Disney cartoon Dumbo, my favorite.

I left my hair free and left the room heading for the kitchen.
While going there my nose wiggled on its own smelling a very good scent coming from there and my stomach started growling so, curious and hungry I started walking at a faster pace.

When I arrived I hardly believed my eyes, Nicolai was at the stove preparing something that smelt literally divine but what caught my eyes was the fact that he was shirtless.

He had on a pair of gray trousers, which he kept at a low waist, from which I could see his black boxers with the writing "uomo(man)" in gray.
My eyes then rose a little higher until they reached his bare back and the sight of his broad shoulders and his muscles contracting with his every movement caused me to bite my lip to hold back any inappropriate noise that might come out of my mouth.
