We are now walking in a hallway of the house that I noticed is not very far from my room.

This house is huge, one thing I noticed this morning is that almost all the staff live here, which is strange if you ask me.
Many things about this work
are quite strange but since no one seems to have the intention of answering my questions I'll have to find out by myself.

Another thing to add to the long list.
I thought rolling my eyes.

In my time here I must find out as much information as possible about where my father is and what he's been up to for the last six years.

Too intent on thinking I didn't even realize we were now in front of a large wooden door.
Mr Morello stood there for a sec giving me his back, then he grabbed the door handle and opened it and, after he entered I started walking towards the door too but as soon as I was about to walk in, the door slammed close in my face making some strands of of hair that had remained out of my bun flutter on my face.

My eyes widened, my eyebrows rose in a mix of surprise and disbelief, and my lips parted slightly.
I already know this man's rudeness won't stop surprising me and it's just my first day.
Sighing I moved away from the door positioning myself to the side keeping my legs apart, back straight, head high and holding both hands in front of me.

Having nothing else to do but stand there my mind started wandering, making me remember one of the best moments of my life.

Flashback

"Honey, stay where I can see you"

My mother's angelic voice told me.
Sarah was my mom's name, she was the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.
Her skin was a caramel brown tonality;
her hair, however, was curly just like mine and reached up to her waist.
My mama was really a vision for sore eyes, but the thing I liked most about her and that attracted people was the fact that she had a pure soul.
She was a kind, caring and loving woman and mother; you couldn't help but love her.

"Yes mama"

I said running all over the lawn giggling while trying to catch some gorgeous butterflies I had seen.
I was ten at the time, it was summer and we were having a picnic in this beautiful place.
It was a huge field full of flowers and the grass high enough to reach my knees.
My parents were sitting on a towel on the ground, my father standing behind my mother with his arms wrapped around her waist while whispering something in her ear that made her laugh.
They were beautiful together, as a child I wanted so much a love like theirs; I wanted with all my heart someone who could make me smile the way my father made my mama.

Then I started running towards them and once I got there I laid down on the blanket and leaned my head on my mother's lap while she caressed my hair and face gently.
We were there all three in that position for what seemed like an eternity watching the sun set, leaving shades of beautiful colors all over the sky.

"I'm so happy to have you both in my life"

She then said breaking the silence.
I raised my head only to meet her beautiful brown eyes which, however, were glossy with tears.
I gave her a big smile which she immediately returned rubbing my cheek softly.
My dad from behind us gave her a kiss on the side of the head before moving giving me a kiss on the forehead as well.

"I love both of you so much"
He then said.
We stayed there until the sun was almost completely gone. Then we started walking towards the car, me in the middle of them holding both their hands with a smile so big to hurt my face.

End Flashback

The memory of how happy we were doesn't even seem real anymore.
I still can't believe how things have changed so dramatically.
My mother was the glue that kept the family together and with her death we all fell apart.
But despite everything I needed to believe that the love my father said he felt for me, at least at the time, was real and unconditional but deep down I knew I was obviously wrong.

All the love he said he felt was for my mother, not for me.

After a few minutes the sound of a door opening brought me back to reality.
From there Mr Morello came out and without saying anything he began to walk, leaving a trail of delicious scent behind.
I started following him, always remaining at a suitable distance but still managing to inhale his scent.

Once we were outside the mansion I noticed two cars similar to those that brought us here last night, they were two black vans.
I didn't even notice when Mr Morello suddenly stopped causing me to crash into his back.
I immediately stepped back and apologized.

"Sorry, Sir"
I said and he glared at me while a growl left his mouth.

Uhm..I didn't do it on purpose so chill.

When he turned his back I rolled my eyes and waited for him to get on the van before getting in too.
As soon as I sat down, I noticed he was looking at me, so I turned to him.
He had an hard expression on his face.
"What do you think you're doing?"
He said arching an eyebrow, I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at him like he asked the dumbest question ever.

"What do you mean Sir?"
I asked.
"What are you doing in this car?"
I stayed silent not actually knowing what to say. Is he joking right now or what?

"You will follow me in another car. Now get off"
My lips parted, I was about to move when he decided to open that mouth of his again.
"Get.Out."
He said this time more slowly.
I clenched my jaw then scoffed and got out of the car slamming it shout.
I then went to the car behind and fortunately there was no one else there with me, only the driver.

After the car that carried Mr Morello in front of us left, we followed behind and not knowing what to do, I leaned my head against the window and looked at the many cars and people passing by.
