Chapter Twenty-Three - Duels, Spiders and... An Admirer?

Y/n's Pov

     It was after classes, and we are headed to a Defense Against the Dark Arts club. Lockhart has started a club of duels or something like that. We arrive and we see Professor Lockhart along with Professor Snape. Were they going to demonstrate how duels work? We don't really need a demonstration. We can just read a book about it.

     "Good afternoon everyone! And welcome to the dueling club. During a teacher's meeting I suggested that I start a dueling club, because of some events that may happen. But before we begin I would like to introduce my assistant, Professor Snape." Lockhart says as Snape gets on the stage.

     "Now not to worry everyone, you will still have your potions teacher by the time I finish this duel. Now, we'll start with a simple disarming charm, Expelliarmus. Snape and I will now demonstrate for you." They do the standard bowing and walking away, they stop at a short distance before turning to face each other.

     "Expelliarmus!" Snape yells and Lockhart goes flying back. Draco and I snicker at him as he falls on his butt. Lockhart stands up and brushes himself off.

     "Why don't we try this with two of our students, Miss Granger, get up here!" Lockhart cheers. Granger blushes and steps onto the platform.

     "Then might I suggest someone from my house. L/n." Snape signals for me to get up there so I push myself up onto the platform. The Slytherins cheer for me as I walk on the platform. Snape comes up behind me.

     "You better win this." He hisses quietly to me. I gulp and nod uneasily at him.

     "Wands at the ready!" Granger lifts her wand in front of her face and I do the same.

     "Scared Granger?" I whisper to her.

     "A little, I know you're not gonna hold back." Not the answer I was expecting but it works.

     "You'll thank me later."

     "I'm sure I will." We turn around and walk backwards, when we turn around.

     "Go!" Lockhart announces.

     "Stupefy!" I yell. Granger flies backwards and lands still on the floor. Granger gets up with the help of Lockhart.

     "Expelliarmus!" She casts.

     "Protego!" The spell that she cast backfires onto her and she loses her wand.

     "Alright! Duel over! You were only supposed to use disarming charms! But it still stands, L/n wins." Lockhart tells us. I look back at Snape and he nods at me approvingly, making me smile. After a while, it was Draco and Potter's turn to duel, which started out normal before Draco summoned a snake. Potter started speaking in Parseltongue. Before things could escalate I cast Incendio, burning the snake to death. We all look at Potter before he leaves with his friends. I decided to follow them to see what they were up to.

Ray's Pov

     It was kind of surprising that Harry could speak Parseltongue, but at the same time it wasn't. Harry is literally the 'Boy who lived" so not that surprising. Ron and Hermione are talking about how only Salazar Slytherin himself can speak Parseltongue. I wonder if L/n can speak Parseltongue, she seems salty enough to be related to Salazar.

     "How can I speak a language I've never heard of?" Harry questions. I shrug.

     "Who knows? This is the wizarding world. Anything can happen." I answer.

     We're at the library when Harry suddenly gets up.

     "Hey I'm gonna go to the dorms to rest. I'll meet you in the common rooms." He leaves the library. A few moments after he leaves I see L/n leave the library as well. Strange, why was she here? Probably doesn't matter.
