Whoever decided we have to wake up and be productive, I hope they die a painful death at the hands of Voldemort. I don't want to get up today, I just want to lay in my bed all day and read. But I can't do that, unfortunately I have to get up and go to classes. Classes are one of the things I dread about school and getting up. Not because I'm bad at them or anything, but because I have to see them. It's harder to avoid them if you have to see them every single day in every single class you have. I should probably get out of bed though, so I can see if Susan has done my work and if she's done a good job at it for once.

After getting dressed I meet Pansy, Draco, and Blaise at the entrance to the Slytherin dorms. They've immersed themselves in a conversation which Draco seems seemingly unbothered by. I arrive next to them, hearing a slight nang from one of the doors in the dorm and Draco greets me.

"Nice of you to finally join us, Y/n." He sneers as we head out the dorm.

"Shut up. You should be lucky I even came down here at all. I would much rather preferred to stay asleep in my dorm." It's true I would have preferred to, but I wouldn't have been able to. Pansy would've come up to my dorms and dragged me down against my will anyways.

"Ms. L/n, Mr. Malfoy, may I have a word with you two?" The icy grip of fear works its way around my chest as I hear the shrill, toad-like voice of Professor Umbridge. Not a lot of things are able to frighten me, but Umbridge does. She reminds me of my mother in some way. Or maybe I just hate her to the point where I fear her. I don't know how it works. But either way, I hate her and fear her.

"Of course, Professor." Draco responds politely. The urge I have to slap him right now is so strong, I'm barely holding myself back from it.

"Right this way." She gives us a sickening, sweet smile as she turns around and walks off down the hallway.

As we walk further and further down the hallways, I recognize it to be the way to her office. I have a good memory so I remember how to get to her office. When we arrive she opens the door and ushers us in. As she sits down behind her desk she invites us to take a seat.

"Please, have a seat my dears." Uneasily, I look at Draco and sit down on one of the seats across from her. Her office looks the same as when I was here. To be fair I was only here a couple of days ago so I can't expect much to change. The vibrant colors of pink make my eyes sting as I feel the beady eyes of the cats on her walls staring at us.

"Now, I understand that you two are the Prefects of Slytherin, correct?" She questions us. I nod in response and so does Draco.

"Wonderful! Now, I was wondering if you two would perhaps like to do a variety of tasks for me? You have the option to decline these if you want, but I would recommend that you don't decline them." Draco turns to me, as if to ask whether or not we should accept these.

"We'll accept the tasks Professor. What are they?" I answer her questions. I see her greedy eyes light up in sinister delight as I reply to her on behalf of both of us.

"Excellent! I'm glad you two have accepted. For these tasks you will have to partake and be a member of the Inquisitorial Squad. This squad is formed up of students I have hand-picked from your year. I have chosen students who I believe have what it takes to be a good, rule-abiding, fair leader. As you two are two of the students I have chosen, you should feel honored. You have been recognized as someone who carries a lot of potential by a high level Ministry of Magic employee." I've wanted to hear that praise for a while, but not from her of all people.

"What will we gain from this?" Draco voices my question for me.

"You'll gain a good reputation with me, the Ministry of Magic, and job offers in the future." I look at Draco and he looks back at me, raising his eyebrow. I contemplate the offer, it's honestly tempting to accept it. But in this situation the pros may outweigh the cons. People will be more weary around me, but it will benefit my future and the rest of my life.

"Alright, we're in."
