Chapter Forty-Six - Second Task and Stuff

Y/n's Pov

     It's the next day and it's time for the second task and I'm standing on the platform above the Black Lake with the other contenders. I'm in a swimsuit that hugs my body tight with short shorts, shivering next to the others.

     "Welcome to the second task!" Dumbledore's voice booms. "Last night something was stolen from each of our champions. A treasure of sorts. These four treasures, one for each champion, now lie on the bottom of the black lake. In order to win each champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface. Simple enough. Except for this, they will have one hour to do so and one hour only. After that they'll be on their own." Potter is standing next to me with Moody behind us.

     "Put that in your mouth." He whispers to Potter. Potter eats something slimy and starts choking.

     "You may begin at the start of the cannon." Dumbledore continues. A cannon is fired and I quickly cast a bubble over my head and dive in. I have to find whatever the treasure is, and quickly.

     After swimming around for a bit with a singing voice, I hear a voice over the speaker saying Delacour has been forced to retire from this task. I soon reach an area where I see Draco, Weasley, Granger, Cho Chang, and some blonde girl tied up with chains around their ankles. I knew they would go far for the tasks but I didn't think this far! Cedric, Potter, and Viktor soon swim up beside me. Cedric releases Cho and brings her up to the surface. Potter tries to go for Weasley and Granger but the merpeople stop him.

     "She's my friend too!" He yells.

     "Only one person." They tell him. Viktor swims up with his shark head and bites Granger's chain and brings her up to the surface. I click my tongue and tell Potter to go for Draco as I get the blonde girl, planning to go back down for Weasley. He nods in confusion and the merpeople try to stop us. I blow up the blonde's chain and pull her into my arms. I go over to where Draco is floating since Potter destroyed his chain and I wrap my arms under him so I'm holding him up.

     "Attack them when they try to stop me. They won't attack you since you're only getting Weasley." He nods and I start kicking to the surface. Merpeople all come for me and Potter throws curses at them, making them leave me alone. I levitate the two of them up to the surface first since my bubble spell is coming off. I use the last of my strength to go to the surface and take deep breaths and quickly get Draco and the blonde girl onto the docks with the help of a Beauxbatons girl. After she pulls them onto the doc she grabs me and pulls me onto it. I cough, splutter, and shiver a bit and I feel someone wrap a warm, fluffy towel around me. I turn to see Norman and Ray. Ray is keeping the towel wrapped around me and Norman is standing behind us while Draco is being tended to by others, and suddenly the Beauxbatons girl asks for my attention. I turn my head to face her and Fleur comes over to me.

     "You saved her, even though she wasn't yours to save. My little sister!" Fleur cries while kissing my cheeks. I just sit there, flustered, not expecting that, she goes back to her sister and hugs her. I feel arms wrap around me, Ray's arms, this made my heart flutter. He pulls me closer to him and Norman passes him another towel, which he wraps around me. I nuzzle my neck into the crook of his neck and lean closer to him. I don't even know why or how but... I think... I like him... not just as a friend either, but in a romantic kind of way. He's always so nice to me and protects me even when I don't need it. Even when I was a rude asshole to him in the past years, he still shows that he cares for me. I don't think I like him... I love him... oh shit this is bad.

     "Thank goodness you're ok..." Ray mumbles into my ear. His warm breath heats up my ear and makes me flush a bit.

     "Thank you... for not leaving." I whisper. He nods and pulls me closer to him. Thank goodness I have him in my life.
