"His name is Cord?" I say confused
"Yes." King Kamau says while rubbing the giant bird.
Why would he name his bird Cord? Out of all things.
Before I can voice my question, someone else speaks.
"What do you need me for?" Rod questions with the tilt of his head.
King Kamau goes over to the door and hits a switch, making all the dark panels turn clear, and the sun beams through, causing the bird to momentarily screech, before adjusting its eyes.
It's a conservatory.
It looks like indoor woods. Minus the trees. Grass and flowers blooming on the floor, enough space to fit thirty elephants comfortably. It's like a playground, for a huge bird.
"He hasn't been moving, there's something wrong with him and none of the chemists can figure it out." He says nodding in the direction of the giant white and grey bird, as it lays down on a big platform in the center of the room.
Rod clears his throat nervously."Well hopefully I can help." He walks In front of the bird. Rod waits until the birds eyes meet his own before he starts to communicate.
And about thirty seconds later, he speaks.
"Someone poisoned him."
King Kamau looks taken back.
"What? That's impossible. Cord is of the Caldurious species. He cures illness, including himself."
Rod takes that into consideration before he continues his earlier statement.
"Well it's possible. It seems that this is a homemade concoction, and they made it specifically for him."
"Who?"
Rod looks back at the bird, and surprisingly it gives the human a nod.
"He said it was one of the chemists that came here when you had his annual checkup."
The King nods, still processing.
"Why would someone want to poison the bird?" I say, looking at Rod for answers
"His name is Cord" he hesitantly clarifies.
"Why would someone want to poison Cord." I correct, looking at King Kamau, seeing his face heat up at the sudden correction, then turing back to Rod.
But he just looks confused.
"He's the fastest messenger bird I have. He can cure illnesses among other things." King Kamau speaks instead.
He suddenly sticks his pointer finger up in the air, and his face flashes in remembrance. "Oh! And Cord can help you with your renovations."
I guess that brings us to the ultimate question "Among other things?"
He lowers his voice like someone's listening and looks around before locking eyes with me. "He can revive things. Not just people."
I swear a lightbulb just appeared above my head.
"I can cure him. In exchange, I'm going to have to borrow Cord." I state with a slight smile.
"Well I was gonna let you borrow it anyway." He says sheepishly.
Oh, right
He did just say I can use him for my renovations.
I clear my throat.
But then he processes the first part of my sentence.
He looks taken back by my statement. "How can you cure him?"
