Ow, I rub my head as I sit up from the dirt road.
My eyes immediately searching for Circe.I sigh in relief to see she's in the same position as me, palming her own head. "What the fuck." She grumbles as she looks around and I follow her actions.
Metal?
It looks like a big metal box that surrounds us.
"Where did it come from?" I question out loud as I get into standing position, bumping my head harshly on the ceiling as I mumble a few curses. Yea that's definitely what hit us, causing us to wake up on the floor.
I bend my knees a little as I go to Circe and help her up. "Watch your head." I say to her because she almost as tall as me and will definitely reach the ceiling considering she was on the floor cradling her head as well.
"Thanks." She says as she grabs both of my hands while I pull her up.
She bends her knees slightly as well as she examines the box around us.
"I had a feeling something would happen, but I was not expecting to be hit by a metal box falling out of the sky." She sighs.
"You think Derroth District is behind this?" She questions.
I nod. "I don't know who else it could be."
"Alright, let's not be here any longer then we need to." She says as she closes her eyes and breaths out.
She opens her eyes back up and she looks pissed.
"No fucking way." She mumbles as she walks towards the nearest wall and touches it. Immediately snatching her hand away as if it's burned her. "It's dampening my powers." She scoffs in distaste.
My eyes widen. "I didn't know there was a way to dampen one's powers."
"Yea, neither did I." She turns around. "Try yours."
I do as she says and close my eyes to try and gather my quhal.
Nothing.
I feel no connection to the earth as I try to reach out and grab it. I sigh and open my eyes, shaking my head in answer.
She looks at the ceiling as she walks back to me. I notice a burn on her hand where she touched the wall and I immediately grab it, worry lacing my features. "The wall did this?"
I furrow my eyes brows and she nods as we both look at the hand I'm cradling.
My heart clenches as I see the red blistering burnt flesh.
"The walls burn and I'm gonna assume that the ceiling will burn as well, but let's try to lift it up." She says while looking at me.
I immediately shake my head. "No let's find another way." I don't want to see her hurt, I already wish I can take this burn away. As soon as we get out of here I'm having a physician heal her. For now I rip a piece of the bottom of my shirt off and I begin to wrap it around her hand but she grabs my wrist to stop me. "You can wrap it later, I'm just going to put my hand on the ceiling and it will burn through the fabric. Unless you can think of another way, I'm gonna try with or without your help. These burns will hurt but it won't kill us. It just reminds us that we're still alive and we're not in hell." She mumbles the last bit.
I sigh as I try to rack my brain around another solution, but we can't get out without touching the box or using our quhals.
As much as it pains me, I know she's right. And I know she an adult and literally a Queen and probably has scars bigger then the one on her eye but I don't want to see her hurt.
