Ophelia's POV
By the time Sunday rolled around I was both excited and nervous. I was going to be meeting more of Niall's friends and he was going to hang out and, hopefully, get to know mine. Or, well, the three invited – Tomi, of course, Andy, and Niall had invited Matt on Friday night. He had even asked if there was anyone else I would like to have there but, to be honest, they were about the only friends I had in this town. I was happy, though, that he had taken that initiative, especially since I had originally been so skeptical and I felt bad for that.
Tomi and Matt both worked that morning. I refused to work on Sundays because I had gotten one too many Jesus cards for a tip and had had enough. Andy spent his morning packing to go home on Monday. He'd be gone for a month, which meant I only had Matt and Tomi left. But, now, I had Niall, and after this cookout, maybe a new friend or two. I had really gotten along with Tara and was hoping to get to know her better, especially since I know Mully would be calming Tomi's nerves down. We both were nervous that their friends wouldn't like us. Tomi, though, had had the advantage of being at their house before and thus meeting a couple of people. I hadn't even stepped foot anywhere near his house.
I hung around my apartment for most of the day until Tomi texted that she and Matt were done and would be coming my way soon. They both lived too far away to bother going home to clean up, so I was going to let them do so here.
"Okay, Matt, honest man's opinion, what do you think of this?" I asked, coming out of my closet and showing him what I wanted to wear. "And remember, I want these people to like me. Friends opinions are very important."
"Yeah, yeah, I know, Ophelia. Despite, never asking me for my opinion of Niall," he said, jokingly.
I looked at him. He was right. "Shit, Matt, you're right. Well, what do you think of Niall?"
He laughed. "I like him, Ophelia. Relax. He seems to really like you and that's all that matters to me."
"Aww, puke!" Tomi said coming out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. She looked in my direction. "Ophelia, sweetie, no, you are not wearing that."
She walked up to me and snatched the shirt I was holding out of my hands. "Hey! I was waiting on Matt's opinion!"
"Matt gets no opinion!" Tomi shouted from inside my closet.
"Yes, I do!" He yelled. "I am the man whose opinion she was asking for to let her know if she was sexy enough but not too sexy to make people think she's a whore for anyone but Niall. Let me be that judge, Tomi!" Matt stomped his feet a little and pouted as he stomped his way into my closet.
"Okay, well, I'll be over here," I said, laughing.
"Oh, hell, nah! Why on earth do you own this?" Matt asked, coming out and holding up this babydoll top I had bought for a nineties themed party nearly a year ago.
"I bought that for that stupid party Jared threw like a year ago."
"Stop mentioning that dumdum!" Tomi yelled. "Mistakes should be left in the past. And that is one that should never again see the light of day!"
Matt looked back and forth between me and Tomi. "Jared? As in the Jared that used to work at the bar?" I nodded. "What mistake happened there?" I didn't answer, instead choosing to sheepishly look away. But I could see the wheels in his head turning. "Ohhhh my god! Ophelia...you didn't! Did you?"
"Oh, she did," Tomi said, coming out of the closet. "And it should never be mentioned again!"
"But...how? Why? When? Eww."
