Niall's POV

When we got home, I took a hot shower to wash the day, and the feeling of dread that had come over me, off. I stayed in there until the hot water ran cold. Getting out of the shower, I quickly dressed and made my way downstairs. I saw Ophelia and Tara in the living room, talking. I entered and gave Ophelia a kiss on the top of her head before heading into the kitchen.

"Can I get either of you anything?" I asked.

"I'm good," Tara said.

"I am too, thanks, babe."

I went into the kitchen and grabbed a beer. Shutting the door to the refrigerator, I nearly jumped out of my skin. Through the kitchen window, into the backyard, stood a dark figure I'd know anywhere.

"What the fuck?" I said, probably too loudly for my own liking.

"Babe, you okay?" I heard Ophelia ask from the living room.

I walked out of the kitchen and out the side door of the living room. "Stay inside," I ordered to Ophelia and Tara as they sat there, watching me.

"What's wrong?" I heard Ophelia ask as I walked out into the darkness.

I walked around to where the kitchen windows were and saw nothing. "What the fuck?" I mumbled, running my hand through my hair. I looked around the backyard and nothing. Running my hands through my hair and over my hair, I shook my head hoping to shake away this feeling.

"Fucking seeing things."

I walked back in and both women looked at me. "Everything okay, Niall?" Ophelia asked, a bit of panic in her voice.

"Yeah, sorry, I thought I saw something outside. Nothing there. Eyes must be playing tricks on me. Sorry if I scared you."

Ophelia exchanged a look with Tara before getting up off the couch. "It's okay. It's been a long day maybe we should just go to bed?"

"No, I don't want to ruin our night. Tara just got here."

Tara stood up. "It's okay, Niall. It has been a long day for you two, from what Ophelia was telling me, so yeah maybe an early night is needed. It's fine, really."

"Are you sure?" I asked. I hated that she drove all the way over here for nothing.

"I'm sure. It's fine, Niall."  She gave both of us a hug and left.

"I'm sorry, baby, for ruining the night," I said, softly, although kind of glad it was now just the two of us.

She walked up to me with her arms outstretched. Wrapping her hands around my neck, she looked at me quizzically. "It's okay. Not like there was some big plan for the night." She looked at me a little before asking, "Are you sure you're okay? You've been acting funny since we left. Still feeling a little sick?"

Not wanting to scare her that I was going fucking crazy, thinking I was seeing my ex girlfriend all over the place, I simply nodded. "Yeah, it's probably that or something I ate."

"How about this? Even though I know we both just took a shower, how about a nice, hot bath? We can just soak in the heat of the water and relax before climbing into bed. How's that sound?"

"Perfect."

"Okay, you lock up and do whatever needs to be done down here and I'll get it ready, okay?"

She looked at me for a moment and then softly rubbed her nose against mine before lightly kissing it. This was something she had come to do and it made me feel safe, secure, loved.
