chapter 8

Bethany's POV
I woke up in my room,events from last night came rushing back,I had to pinch myself to believe it was real and that it all happened I was weary to get up, but I had to bcos after yesterdays event I wouldn't want anyone suspecting anything especially Evans....I will face him sooner or later,I prefer later tho with that I went to the bathroom to freshen up.
Looking at the mirror,my eyes looked puffy and kinda red from crying last night,my hair tangled and rough like a birds nest. I brushed my teeth,took a hot water bathe and stepped with a towel wrapped around me,walking towards my wardrobe my phone started ringing.
Beep beep beep
"Heyy Claire how are ya" I greetedcher trying to sound all cheerful even tho my heart was crying
"Hey Betty,just wanted to check up on you,so how are ya" she asked concerned
"Tell her we are having a movie day today,since we can't go to the park bcos of the heavy rain approaching" I heard Lucas say heartily
"I guess you heard him" Claire said chuckling
"Yea sure,be there in a few" I said hanging up
Since there was gonna be a heavy rain I decided to wear my black big sweater and skinnies with my  snickers and headed towards Claire's,mum wasn't home so I didn't get the lecture I expected
I got to her house and knocked a few times,Evi shouted that the door was opened so I entered,I was welcomed by Lucas's warm embrass then ushered to the living room were it seems they were having a meeting
"Heyy everyone" I said walking in on them
"Hey" "hi" "watsup" was all they replied me with
"You came just in time" Claire said pulling me to sit with her
"Okay so I will pair everyone and assign them to different posts" Claire continued
Plsss plss don't pair me with Evans,lady luck pls shine on me,I ll be good from now one,I will do charity works pls just don't pair me with him
"You and Evans will be in charge of snacks"she stated
Damn it,Can't a littl luck shine on a girl for once,I mean I said I ll be good
"Dave and I will be in charge of the movie and setting everything up while Evi and Lucas will rearrange the living room" she fininshed
"Wait why does Evans and beth get assigned to snack,I can do that too ya knw" Evi protested
Yesss yesss yess I guess luck is shining upon me after all
"Well they are the only ones I trust to make it without eating it all up before they even bring it for the movie" claire said clasping her clipboard over her chest
"Now get your lazy asses to work people" she said standing up
No one moved so she pressed a horn and everyone scattered,all going to their post of duty,how on earth did she get a horn....I wonder
Evans was looking for the microwaveable pop corns and I tried getting some lemons to use for our lemonade
"You can't ignore me forever ya knw" he said turning the microwave on
"Am not ignoring you" I said while rinsing the lemons
"We have gotta talk tho" he said watching me from behind
"Why and besides can't it wait till another day" I say slicing the lemons open
"No,it can't wait" he replies
"Okay am all hears,what do you wanna bore me about" I said still slicing
"Well....you" he said standing besides me
"Am not boring" I said glaring at him pointing the knife towards his direction
"Well you said it" he defended raising his hands up in surrender still staring at the knife
"What's really going on with you" he continued
"Well nothing,last I checked nothing important happened" I simply said
"Nothing important?,to begin with you have a scar on your left hand,which am sure was intentional cos have seen a scar or two there" Evans said
"What are you implying" I asked shocked
"That you cut" he said straight faced
"How did you know" I asked still shocked
"I did not,you just confirmed it" he said feeling pleased with himself
"Well...umm....ummm you should get your facts straight before making accusations" I said trying to steer him down
"Well they are very much straight" Evans said holding my left wrist gently rolling my sweater up making my scar obvious... "Besides I have proof" he said looking at my scars with sad eyes,then intently looking into my eyes
"Why do you do this,why do you hurt yourself I mean,you are preety" he said shaking his head
"No scratch that,you are beautiful,tpu are worth a lot more than the universe,I really don't understand why" he said looking at me intently
"Am worth nothing" I replied in a whisper and yanked my hand away from him,rolling down my sleeves,carrying the already made jug of lemonade heading towards the living room,Evans on my trail with the bowl of popcorn
The movie already started,they chose fast and furious,we were gonna watch all the parts,I sat at the back and Evans joined me shortly after.
Evans POV
We started watching the movie and Bethany kept drifting off,I tried not to bug her but I am beyond worried
"Are you okay,it seems your not here" I said nudging her
"Yea am fine thanks,do you wanna take a walk down the road" she asked with pleading eyes,beyond the pleading eyes I see hurt and pain
We sneaked out and no one noticed because they were too engrossed in the movie,what if a serial killer had attacked us,they wouldn't know too
"Am sorry,I just wanted to get away" beth said
It is a cold afternoon,the sky looked cloudy but I couldn't leave beth alone
"You know you can talk to me about anything if you wanna" I said with a reassuring smile
Bethany's POV
My heart felt heavy,I wanted to scream and let it all out,I had many unanswered questions,the tears are just too much and I couldn't hold them back any longer so I let them roll down my face,he looked worried,I know he wants the best for me,I want the best for me too but I have to face my past to move into my future
It already started drizzling and we walked down the street towards the park,I didn't mind getting wet,I hope he didn't too.
We got to the park and headed towards the swing and the rain began pouring cats and dogs but I wasn't ready to go back,I wanted to be in the park away from everyone and thankfully it was empty
Evans POV
She is not okay,I could feel it,I did not know what to do,I asked if she was okay but got no reply so I just followed her to the park towards the swing like a zombie....a few tears rolled down her face and my heart was breaking for her
"Betty you can talk to me" I told he
She just continued crying and she did not bother looking my way,I got up instinctively and did what I felt was right.
I held her in a warm embrace and she held me as tight as her weak and fragile body could,she did not wanna let go,we were drenched but I did nt mind.
She was feeling weak and I could feel it,she was loosening her grip, the rain was falling heavily,she started hallucinating and saying random words like
"Why did he have to do it"
"What did I do wrong"
"Hez my father so he should love and not destroy me"
"Where was God all those times"
"Where is God now?"
"What are you sating Betty" I asked her scared
But beth did not answer,instead she fainted in my arms and the rain poured more
