fierce and forgiving:second chances

chapter 18

      I was running fast,really fast away from something or better yet someone,we were in the woods,thorns were tearing and scratching my skin,I touched the spot and felt warm thick liquid run down my skin from the cut but I didn't care,not now, I had to get away. I kept running fast,sweating profusely,panting,gasping for air with every leap I took,I wasn't stopping or reducing the pace,if anything I was running even faster.
     My feet were pounding at the ground,my lungs screaming at me to stop,I felt pain everywhere but I wasn't stopping for I knew that if I did stop my predator would catch up so I kept going running faster than my last,then I felt sand under my feet,the ocean was in front of me but still a far distance so I ran towards it not looking back,I was afraid too.
     Standing on the shore line I could either jump and die or get caught and most probably die,I don't really have much of a choice anyways, as I was about to leap my predator tackled me to the ground,I was shouting and shaking but I didn't put up a fight I was to weak and tired,I began to slip away having blurry visions,I thought I was gonna wake up to a sight of heaven,seeing angels in their glowing white garments but I opened my eyes to a different scenery with someone hovering over me,it was Alexia looking at me with worried eyes,I was sweating and trying hard to catch my breath,it felt like I ran a marathon,well I practically did in the worst of situations.
      I was now sitting up,hugging my knees to my chest,I was still shaken up by the night mare, Alexia sat at the edge of my bed with a plain face

"Are you okay?" She muttered and I nodded not having the strength to speak and with that she went to her bed,turning off the light

"Umm....Alexia" I croaked out

"Yeah" she replied

"Thank you" I said and with that I closed my eyes to find peace

      I woke up to the sound of movements, opening my eyes I saw it was Alexia probably getting ready to head out to the fields. Glancing at the time it was about 15 minutes to 6. I got up and cleaned myself pulling my hair into a loose ponytail,I wore the camo three quarter pants and the camp Christ vest which was the uniform for boot camp and headed to the field,a couple of people were already there and gladly sunshine wasn't amidst them but the rest arrived shortly after with sunshine,I wonder why I even remembered her name,maybe it was the fact that she tortured me in such little time,I also wondered what boot camp lessons could be used to strengthen our Christian faith.

"Good morning,this morning" she said with a smile plastered on her face
     I wondered what was good about the morning,the clouds looked threatening, can't we have something like a day off

"Good morning" we all managed to say but not in unison

"Seems like you guys forgot some of our rules already" she said way too sweetly with that smile plastered to her face like its Christmas or like she just got a bonus which was annoying
"Why don't I refresh your memories,you are to all roll those barrels round the field twice,with your hands,let's work those muscles,shall we?"sunshine shouted.
    We did as we were told then gathered back to were she stood

"Good morning,this morning" she shouted and authority was prominent in her voice

"Good morning,this morning" we all said in unison.
   She scrunched up her nose not pleased,why wasn't she pleased,I wondered

"At least you all learned how to say it in unison and since drills are the only way to get perfection from you guys,I will give you one,but before that I will go through the instructions again," sunshine said
    It was by now already drizzling,I felt soft droplets run down my face

"Whenever I give a command,I expect a sir right after every reply and no slouching,stand straight,chest out l,buttucks in Got that?" She yelled
Just right after that lightening flashed

"Sir yes sir" we all said in unison and perfection, what can can I say we were all scared

"Good very good" she said sternly

"For your drills,run towards the ocean and wait for me at the gate,at the blast of the whistle,go and if I get there before you,you have extra drills" she said
   She held her whistle to her mouth and blew it with all the strength she could muster,we all ran to the same direction reaching there in no time,the scenary is really pretty from behind the gate,its amazing, its a white sanded beach with tall and short coconut trees and dark blue waters because it took the colour of the clouded sky,couldn't see much because we were still far from it
  
"For today's drills,you are to all crawl on your stomachs from here to the tree closest to the ocean,the wind is picking up so don't go any farther" she said with an evil smirk
   Wow she noticed the wind and yet she wants us to practically commit suicide but no one complained,we did as we were told.
      I pitied all crawling animals, they must be in severe pain crawling on their stomachs,the rough sand brushed hard against my bare skin making me whince in pain but I had to continue,the rain was falling hard and we were all crawling already half way there the wind sending shivers through my body,my clothes already soaked,so much for cleaning up in the morning. Pushing myself harder I got to the tree closest to the ocean in record time,I sat down leaning my head on the tree staring at the ocean and the already picking wave,I was in a safe distance so I wasn't worried.
   I felt someone beside me so I turned around and the guy from yesterday was there

"Heyy" he said breaking the silence

"Hi" I said suddenly feeling self conscious as I started brushing sand of me

"Weird drills right" he said chuckling

"I kinda figured when it comes to her,anything is expected" I said staring at the sea

"My name is Edward or better yet eddy" he said stretching his hands

"Beth" I said shaking them,when our hands connected it sent electricity through me,kinda like what I felt for Evans,oh Evans,I really missed him

"Nice meeting you" I said taking my hand back

"Pleasures all mine" he said also looking away
The rest of the camp joined us in no time and so did sunshine

"Since its raining and we don't want y'all sick,you will get the day off" sunshine said gloomily
     Cheers broke out from everyone,it meant that we were free from her for the rest of today and lots of hours to ourselves.
   We all went to the cabin and I stepped into the bathing stalls just Immediately, loosening my ponytail and stepping under the hot steamy shower,using coconut smooth shampoo to wash my hair getting all the sands out,in a few minutes I was done in the shower and was off to my drawer to get something to wear.
     Pulling out a black SOS blouse and a faded jean shorts with black snickers,then fixing my wet hair into a looses bun,I felt refreshed and happy for no particular reason.
