fierce and forgiving:second chances

chapter 14

I woke up to the blaring sound of horns,whistles and sirens making me fall on my behind,checking the time it was just 5:55am,I was still tired so I crawled back to bed not caring that I had to be out in roughly 5 minutes
A few minutes later I shrieked at the defeaning sound of a horn directly inside my ear

"You whimps were supposed to be on the field 5 minutes ago" the voice yelled at us,I took a quick scan and saw that all the girls were in,except the goth who was probably already on the fields

"File out and crawl on your stomachs to the field, that should be a nice warm up to get y'all started" the woman said overly cheerful which was annoying but no one contradicted her and did as we were told.
At last we got to the field in what seemed like hours but was in fact barely 20 minutes, everyone seemed to have passed out on the fresh grass,seeming no one was an early bird

"Everyone form a straight line according to your heights,the short ones to my right and tall ones to my left" said the woman who stole my sleep.
Everyone obviously looking tired,the sun wasn't out yet causing the cool of the morning to lash at our skins,making us slow to carry out her gracious orders. The blasting of horns was all it took for her to get a straight line of slouching teenagers.
We picked numbers starting from the shortest,I am number eight out of fourteen.

"Now that everyone has their number,I will introduce myself" the deep voiced woman said
"Am sunshine and I will be taking your little asses boot camp,have been in the army for a while and this should be fun" she said clapping her hands cheerily
Most of us were slouching or our shoulders were sl umped,some were even sleeping and standing,she pressed her horns making us stand straight

"Nobody slouches or stands with their shoulders slumped while I talk....got it?" Sunshine yelled

"Yes,yeah,okay" were a bunch of answers we gave her

"You all have a lot to learn,first when I give an order you reply with sir yes sir and it has gotta be said in unision or you get extra drills,secondly you must stand straight, chest out and buttucks in with your head held high" she demonstrated
"Is that clear" she yelled

"Sir yes sir" we tried saying in unison but to no avail

"Drop down and give me 10 push ups" she yelled
I mentally wondered how on earth she could be a woman with her tellings and masculine physiques.
We all had the look that said you have gotta be kidding me and she didn't seem to miss it

"Sine am in a preety good mood today,let's make it 15" she said smiling
Not risking extra drills we slummed to our stomachs and gave her 15 push ups

"I don't think we would make it outta here alive" Lisa said trying to feel her limbs

"She is more of a cloud than a sunshine,at least we will make it out" I said trying to believe it

"Numbers 1-7 form a straight line and 8-14 should do the same" sunshine yelled,we were in close hearing range,I wonder why she shouts,we all do as we were told

"Look at the person beside you,they would be you partner till the end of boot camp, if you fail they fail,if you get an extra drill they do too and if youl get immunity they also get ,so you would have to help each other,you have gotta have team spirit,yea" she said to us
I looked over to my partner and it was the goth,like this day couldn't get any worse,she would probably kill me before boot camp is over,my stomach churns,its times like this I miss Claire, she would have found a way to make it fun.
Thinking of Claire made me remember Evans,I wonder if he thinks of me too,would I meet him when I get back?,I remembered the kiss we shared and I started drifting to cloud 9,but I was brought back to cold harsh reality with the blaring of horns and everyone running to the same direction,not knowing what was going on I asked my partner while following the rest

"Why are we all heading down there" I said jogging to catch up with the goth

"Are you fucking me" she yelled at me and I regretted asking because she looked like she could really kill me
"Seems like you would love to earn us extra drills and we barely started" she said angrily

"Since we don't want extra drills just brief me" I replied plainly

"We are to run three times round the field and return to base and by base I mean starting point,just in case" she said irritated
It was tiring and exhausting, back at base some people looked practically dead and I was about to join them,I was thirsty and my lungs were screaming at me for pushing myself .
This is going to be the longest four weeks of my life,I sighed and collapsed to the fresh grass.

I hope you guys had fun reading  this chapter as I had fun writing it,it actually does get better....I heard most people are rooting she that she would end up with Evans,well that was the plan but there's now a twist and find out what happens to Evans......
