"(Y/N) let's go! You're going to be late for your first day."
I groan in frustration from falling behind schedule. I had a rough night, not being able to fall asleep from being so nervous. It wasn't just the first day of senior year, but it was the first day of starting a new school. It was going to be hard to fit in. Luckily for my sister, she will fit in since she's entering her freshman year. I guess we will see how it all goes.
"Let's go!" Brandon calls out to me as I take a step off of the stairs. I roll my eyes and rush to grab my keys as my parents call out to us to have a good day.
The three of us hop into my car. It was a hand-me-down car from my mother, but it was still exciting to be able to drive myself places whenever I pleased. The freedom felt wonderful. Maybe I could take it out one day to go sight see the area.
We pull up into the senior parking lot of school and Juliet runs out, feeling like the bell will ring in any second. Brandon takes his sweet time, not wanting to seem uncool for his sophomore year. I sit in my car for another minute, taking a deep breath before walking into the crowded halls.
I look down at my schedule and try to figure out where to go first.
First Period: English II
Mr. Krank - Room 223
"Alright, now where the hell do I go first?" I whisper to myself as I look around the now empty halls. The bell rang overhead at that same second, kick starting my miserable walk.
I searched for a good ten minutes before I gave up and went straight to where I thought the front office was. I pressed my textbooks to my chest as I shuffled over to the two wooden doors, pulling them open to enter inside. The staff was running back and forth in a frantic manner, so I waited patiently, not in any rush since I did not want to go to class.
"Hi, how can I help you?" The woman stood there, anxiety radiating off of her as she fixed the big framed glasses that sat on her nose.
"Hello, I'm new here and just needed some help finding my way to class." I told her with a smile. She smiled warmly back as she asked me my name.
"(Y/N) (Y/L/N)" The woman got right to it as soon as my last name left my lips. She came back not long after with a paper in her hand.
"Yes, so here-" She slapped a picture of a map of the school on the counter between us, pointing to the squares and numbers. "This will be where your English class will be, but since the class is almost over already, you will be headed this way to Newspaper II. Once there, just ask for Nancy Wheeler and she should be there to help you."
I nodded and stared at the map as I walked out. The second bell rang, pushing students back into the halls as we all search for our next class.
I followed the map as best as I could, hoping that I walk into the right class. As I push the door in, I see a group of students already working on projects for the paper. I walk down the steps that sat in front of the door and reach the bottom where the magic happened.
"Hi, you must be (Y/N)." I swirl my head over to see a gorgeous girl standing in front of me now. She had curly brown hair and a beautiful smile.
"I sure am." We both laughed at my answer as we shook hands.
"I'm Nancy Wheeler, I'll be helping you out for the year since I'm in charge of the newspaper." Nancy continued to tell me a little about the school as she showed me around the floor. She asked me questions about my experience with the newspaper and about my family. I told her everything, excited to make a new friend. Nancy was extremely kind.
