KAIS POV
Amelia rolled over in her bed and I could hear her softly crying. I could tell she was trying to make it quiet but it wasn't working. I got up and walked over to her bed.
"Amelia," I said softly. She moved over and I sat down next to her.
"Can you just hold me?" She said weakly.
"Sure," I nodded. I wrapped my arm around her as she nuzzled into my chest.
"Do you want to talk?" I asked.
"Just hold me please," she said softly.
"Okay," I nodded. I held her in my arms as she started to calm down. I felt bad for her. I didn't know what was going on, but she was having a much harder time here than me. I ran my fingers through her hair as she leaned into me.
"If I tell you something can you never repeat it?" She asked.
"I promise," I said. She sat up and looked at me. I could tell she was serious. She held out her pinky for me and I chuckled.
"Really?" I joked.
"I'm serious," she said.
"Okay," I nodded and linked my pinky with hers.
"My ex, Arizona, left me about 5 months ago, it was in the middle of Senior year. I started using drugs in the beginning of senior year. She found out a month or two before she left me. She couldn't handle it. I don't blame her. I wouldn't have wanted to be with me either. But she broke up with me and I spiraled. I missed a lot of school. I almost didn't get into John's Hopkins because of how bad it got. My brother had to take off of work and sent me to rehab and helped me get it together. We were going to get back together but I don't want to anymore, and I feel bad that I ruined everything," she said. I froze for a moment. I didn't know what to say.
"Sorry it's a lot," Amelia said as she tried to get up. I grabbed her arm and brought her in for a hug. I hugged her tightly and didn't want to let go.
"Amelia I've only know you for a few days but you might be the strongest person I know. I'm sorry all that happened to you," I said.
"Thanks," she said quietly. I pushed a piece of hair behind her ear and she blushed.
"You're too nice to me," she said quietly.
"I like being nice to you," I said.
"I'm glad you're my roommate," she said.
"I'm glad you're my roommate too," I said. She pulled back and looked at me. Our faces were so close, and despite crying she still looked adorable. I wanted to kiss her but I knew this would be the worst time, but she didn't stop looking at me.
"What are you thinking about?" She chuckled.
"Nothing," I lied.
"Liar," she said as she moved closer to me.
"Liar?" I chuckled. I was getting so nervous as she was so close to me. I knew she was hurting and I couldn't take advantage.
"Yeah," Amelia chuckled. Her phone buzzed and she looked over at it.
"Do you want to go to a party?" She asked me. With everything she just told me about drugs I didn't know what to say.
"I can be around people doing drugs I just won't do any. Or drink alcohol. If that's what you're thinking," she said embarrassed.
"No, I-I wasn't, I just, you're upset and is that where you want to go right now?" I asked her.
"I don't know," she admitted.
"Why don't we just take a deep breath," I said.
"Yeah," Amelia said, "sorry I'm just."
"Amelia," I said.
"Right no apologizing," Amelia said.
"I'll go to the party with you if you want," I said.
"I think I just need to go to bed," Amelia laughed, "I'm talking too much."
"I'll listen to whatever you have to say," I said. I saw her blush again and she smiled.
"Okay," she said.

AMELIAS POV
I'm actually fucking all of this up. I can't shut up when I talk to Kai, and I totally have a crush on them. Every time I look at them I'm just so attracted to them. But I'm messing it up. All I've done is cry about Arizona and tell them about my addiction problems. I'm sure they think I'm annoying. I don't blame them. I heard the door open and it was Kai. I rolled over in my bed and looked at them come through the doorway.
"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you," they said as they opened their bag of chips. One thing about Kai, they loved their potato chips.
"It's fine I wasn't sleeping," I said.
"Okay," they said and got ready for bed. Classes started tomorrow, so I figured I should go to bed early.
"Good night Kai," I said as I plugged in my phone.
"Good night Amelia," they said.
