KAIS POV
Amelia and I planned to FaceTime today. I've been worried about her. She's been really out of touch. I'm afraid she's in trouble. I opened my laptop and connected to the FaceTime.
"Hi," she smiled. She was at Derek's house. She was in trouble.
"Hi," I smiled.
"What's up?" She asked.
"I just got back from shopping with my mom," I said, "you?"
"Nothing," she shrugged.
"Are you staying with Derek again?" I asked.
"Uh yeah just for a few days. I missed seeing him," she said.
"That's nice," I said.
"Yeah," she said.
"Are you okay?" I asked. She looked tired. I just wanted to hug her.
"Yeah I'm fine," she said.
"Would you tell me if you were in trouble?" I asked her.
"Kai I'm not in trouble," she said.
"Have you seen your mom since?" I asked.
"No, I, no," she said. I knew she was lying.
"Did she hit you again?" I asked.
"Kai leave it alone," she said.
"I'm not going to sit here and let you get hurt!" I said.
"It's none of your business," she said.
"Amelia I love you," I said, "don't you see that? I don't want you to get hurt."
"And I love you too and I'm telling you to stay out of it," she said.
"Amelia is she hurting you?" I asked. She hung up. Fuck. I called her back. No response. I texted her. No response. I was freaking out.

DEREKS POV
I knocked on Amelias door to bring her some left over lunch since she was on the phone with Kai. Things between her and my mom got bad. They got physical again. This time it was more than a slap. She shoved Amelia down the stairs and she honestly had a lot of bruising. It was mainly on her back so you couldn't see it, but I haven't let Amelia see our mother since. I opened the bedroom door and Amelia was curled in a ball sobbing.
"Amelia?" I rushed over to her. She was breathing heavily and I was afraid she was going to hyperventilate.
"Amelia what's wrong?" I asked.
"They're going to leave me," she said, "oh my god they're going to leave me."
"Kai?" I said. Her breath started getting short and I knew she was going to hyperventilate if I didn't do something. I think she was having a panic attack.
"Amelia we need to go to the hospital," I said.
"They're going to leave," she sobbed. I picked her up and rushed her into me car and the ER. I pulled in the back and rushed her in. I grabbed her an oxygen mask and closed the blinds. She was freaking out.
"Amelia," I said as I held her, "you're okay. It's okay. Whatever happened it's okay." She wiped her eyes and looked at me.
"Kai's going to leave me," she said.
"Why?" I said, "what happened?"
"They kept asking if mom hit me and I froze. I didn't want them to know or worry and I just freaked out and hung up when they started asking again," she said.
"You just need to talk to them," I said, "I'll leave the room." She nodded.

KAIS POV
Hey. I'm really sorry. Ended up in the hospital today. Do you have a minute to chat? I think there's something I need to tell you. If not it's cool. -Amelia

I looked at the text and called her immediately.
"Are you okay?" Was the first thing I said.
"Yeah, sorry, I just had a panic attack," she said quietly.
"What's going on?" I said, "I don't ask because I want to pry I ask because I'm concerned. I don't want you to be in danger."
"I know, and I'm sorry, I just, I'm handling it. Thats all. Things got a little worse with my mom so I've been staying with Derek, I haven't seen her in over a week. It's okay. I'm safe I promise," she said, "I'm sorry for being such a bitch about it."
"No it's okay, I'm glad you're safe with Derek," I said.
"Are you going to leave me?" She said in a small voice, and the way she said it, my heart broke.
"Amelia never honey. Why would you say that? I love you," I said.
"Because I'm difficult, and this is difficult, and I'd get it if you wanted to walk away," she said crying.
"Never, I love you," I said, "I'm not walking away."
"I love you too," she said.
