Spring Break
KAIS POV
I opened my eyes and looked next to me. Amelia was peacefully sleeping. Today we were getting on a plane to fly back to Minnesota. She's keeping this a secret from her mother, which I get. I just hope her mom doesn't find out and she gets in trouble. I looked down at Amelia again and admired her. She was so precious and cute sleeping. I really didn't want to wake her up.
"Amelia," I said softly and nudged her.
"Kai," she mumbled and rolled over. I knew it was early for her. We have a 10am flight, so I was currently waking her up at 7am.
"Ames come on we have to go catch our flight," I said. Ames. My nickname for her. Well, I've actually never called her it. Until now. She opened her eyes and looked at me.
"I like that," she said.
"Ames?" I said.
"Yeah," she nodded, "it's cute. Did you come up with it?"
"I did," I shrugged, "I didn't know if you would like it so it kinda just slipped out."
"I do like it," she smiled.
"Okay," I said, "well you still have to get out of bed."
"Ugh," Amelia frowned, "you know I hate the mornings."
"Yeah but you can sleep on the plane," I said. We both got up and took a quick shower and grabbed our things. I was excited she was coming home with me. I knew my parents would adore her.AMELIAS POV
I sat down next to Kai on the plane. I didn't really like flying. I didn't want to show it a lot because it shouldn't be a big deal. I fidgeted in my seat as the plane started moving and Kai looked over at me.
"You okay?" They asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"You can just tell me you don't like flying," they said and offered their hand.
"Yeah okay I don't like flying," I said.
"Me either," Kai shrugged.
"Liar, you're so calm and composed right now," I said.
"Doesn't mean I'm not freaking out too," Kai shrugged, "here have a peanut."
"Thanks," I said, "I wish I was as calm as you."
"Well in the meantime you can hold my hand," Kai chuckled. I smiled as I leaned my head on their shoulder and held their hand. The plane started going up and Kai gave my hand another reassuring squeeze. The plane stabilized and Kai handed me an AirPod.
"Do you want to watch YouTube with me?" They asked.
"Yeah," I nodded, "thanks." I cuddled up next to them, well really, as well as you could cuddle up next to someone in an airplane seat. Kai put their arm around me and we watched some random videos together. Mostly cat complications because Kai loves cats. I felt my eyes start to close after a while and I drifted to sleep.

"Amelia wake up," Kai said. Something was wrong. Kai started shaking me until I opened my eyes and looked at them. Before I could say anything they were putting one of those oxygen masks on me.
"Kai what's going on?" I said panicking.
"Stop moving I need to put this on you," Kai said. I looked at them as they put an oxygen mask on and grabbed my hand.
"The pilot said we need to make an emergency landing," Kai said, "I don't know where but tomorrow they're going to fly us out to Minnesota." We heard a crash of thunder and I opened the blinds to the window. Sure enough we were in a huge storm.
"That might be why," I chuckled and looked at Kai.
"Might be," Kai said and put their arm around me, "sorry I shook you so hard I was scared."
"It's okay Kai, thank you for waking me," I said.
"Of course," Kai said, "I guess we'll have to stay in an airport hotel room tonight and fly to my parents tomorrow."
"Wow, a whole hotel room to ourselves? What ever will we do?" I joked and Kai smirked.
"I don't know take a nap," Kai joked and I nudged them.
"I am starving though can we get food when we land," I said.
"Sure," Kai said. The plane shook and I grabbed Kai's arm.
"I love you no matter what happens," I said as I looked at Kai.
"I love you too Amelia," Kai said.
