KAIS POV
We've been sitting in silence for the past ten minutes. We were laying down on my bed next to each other, staring at the ceiling.
"Can I ask you another question?" I said and looked over at her.
"Sure," she said.
"And you don't have to answer if you don't want to," I said.
"Okay," she said.
"What about your dad? You just never tell about him, I don't know. Maybe he would be accepting of you?" I tried, "It might be a stupid point I don't know anything about your family."
"It's okay," she said quietly, "my dads dead."
"Oh my god I'm so sorry," I said and grabbed her hand and squeezed it, "I should have never said anything."
"It's okay uh, he was murdered when I was five. I have been meaning to tell you about it, I just hadn't gotten that far yet," she said.
"I'm so sorry," I said and hugged her, "talk about it when you're ready, it's okay."
"I uh, I was with my brother, Derek, we were in my dads shop, behind the register. These two men came in, they wanted my dad watch, my mother bought that watch for him and he loved it, he refused. So the two men shot him, he fell behind the counter and died there. Derek grabbed me and held me so tightly so they wouldn't hear us too. It's why Derek and I are so close," she said quietly.
"You are the strongest person I know," I said and hugged her tightly, "I am so sorry that happened and I'm so sorry for asking."
"It's okay Kai," she said. I held her in my arms as she clung to my chest. I could hear her slow breathing against my shirt and I leaned down and kissed her head.
"My mom doesn't accept us," she said in a small voice.
"What happened?" I asked gently, "you don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
"We we're at lunch and I told her and she told me that I wasn't gay and that the conversation didn't happen. Like she wanted to forget about it. Then we were out shopping and I was obviously upset, and she told me to stop moping because I shouldn't be upset when I've just given her this information, and that we weren't talking about it," she said, "I wish I didn't tell her. It made me feel so small, like I wasn't even there."
"I'm so sorry Amelia, I know that wasn't the reaction you wanted," I said and comforted her, "I'm so sorry she doesn't see you for the amazing person that you are."
"Thank you Kai," She said. We were both silent as I was holding her in my arms. I looked down at her and she was resting her head on my chest.
"Can I fall asleep on you?" Amelia asked.
"Go for it," I said.
"Thank you," she said quietly. She wrapped her arms around my waist as I put my arm around her.
"Good night," I said softly as I kissed her head.
"Good night," Amelia said.

I opened my eyes and Amelia was still asleep. She was snuggled into my side and had her arm over me. She was adorable. I grabbed my phone and snapped a quick photo of her. I kissed her head and let her sleep for a little longer. I felt really bad about what happened with her mother. Suddenly an alarm went off and Amelia groaned. Amelia grabbed her phone and shut the alarm off.
"I gotta go meet me mom for dinner," she said as she sat up.
"Okay," I said, "you'll be okay?"
"Yeah," she nodded, "I'll be back in like two hours or so."
"Sounds good," I said. She pecked my lips and smiled.
"See you later," she said and got out of my bed, got ready, and left. I was worried about her. When Amelia's bothered she goes silent, she shuts people out, she keeps her feelings to herself. I'm scared she's going to hold in her anger at her mother and it's going to drive her crazy. I just hope she's okay.AMELIAS POV
I walked downstairs and my mother was waiting at the lobby.
"Hi," I said. I felt a little better about what happened. I can't change my moms mind, but Kai comforted me about it, and I'm feeling a little better.
"Hello," my mom said, "ready?"
"Yeah," I nodded. We walked out to her rental car and went to dinner. We got to the restaurant and sat down across from one another.
"Do you like it here?" She asked.
"Yeah," I nodded, "it's nice."
"Good," my mom said, "you have friends?"
"Yeah," I said, "they're all really great."
"That's good," my mom said. Her mood seemed the change, she seemed happier, but I know I can't change her mind about Kai.
