AMELIAS POV
I opened my eyes and I was laying on Kai's chest. I smiled. Everything was okay. I looked up at them and they looked up from their phone.
"You're up," Kai smiled.
"Yeah," I chuckled.
"It's about time," Kai joked, "it's almost noon."
"Well, it's Saturday," I said softly.
"I know that silly," Kai said softly as they pushed my messy hair out of my face.
"I totally have bed head," I chuckled.
"It's cute," Kai admired, "you're cute."
"So are you," I said as I looked up at them. They smiled and kissed my forehead.
"What're you up to today?" They asked me.
"I need to go to the library and work on some stuff," I said, "you can join."
"Ok," they nodded.
"I need a shower first," I said and got up. I grabbed my things and got in the shower. Everything was okay. I felt like I could breathe for the first time in weeks. I turned the shower off and walked out into the room in my towel. I noticed Kai's staring, although they were trying to hide it, and I chuckled.
"Need something?" I asked.
"Oh uh," Kai nervously chuckled as their face flushed red. It was cute how embarrassed they got. I changed and Kai and I started walking to the library.
"Kai?" I asked.
"Yeah?" They turned to look at me.
"Can we stop for coffee?" I chuckled.
"Only because you're cute," Kai joked. We waiting on line at Starbucks and eventually got our drinks and continued walking to the library. Kai and I got there and found an empty table. I sat down across from them and opened my laptop.
"What are you working on?" Kai asked.
"Neuroscience modules," I said.
"Fun," Kai said.
"You?" I said.
"Research lab," Kai said.

KAIS POV
I looked up from my laptop after about two hours and Amelia was on her phone. I chuckled as I nudged her with my foot under the table. She looked up at me and took an AirPod out.
"Sorry did you say something?" She whispered.
"Working hard or hardly working?" I joked.
"I'm taking a break," she insisted.
"Mhm," I chuckled.
"Shut up," she chuckled and put her phone down. She was so cute. I watched her as she opened her laptop again and started typing. Her brunette hair was so gorgeous and she had those beautiful piercing blue eyes. I could stare at her forever, she was just beautiful.
"What?" Amelia chuckled as she looked at me.
"Nothing," I said, embarrassed that she saw me staring. We went back to working. Eventually it got close to dinner time and I was almost done with my work. I submitted a few things and closed my laptop.
"Do you want to get food?" Amelia asked.
"You read my mind," I chuckled, "yeah I'm starving."
"Cool let's go," Amelia said. We packed up our stuff and walked to the nearest grab and go station. We got food and Amelia grabbed my arm.
"Come on let's have a picnic," she giggled as she pulled me to a nearby tree.
"Okay," I chuckled. I sat down and leaned up against the tree and Amelia laid her head on my lap as she started eating. She was so cute. I admired her. I wanted this moment to last forever, her in my arms. I took out my phone and took a photo of her.
"Ew Kai I definitely look so gross," she said and tried to grab my phone.
"You don't look gross Amelia," I said.
"Yes I do," she complained.
"No you don't," I said as I put my phone away. I ran my fingers through her hair and she smiled.
"I'm really happy," she said as she looked at me.
"Me too," I smiled.
"So do you care if people know we're dating?" She asked.
"No, I've been pretty open about everything for a few years now, it wouldn't bother me. Would it bother you?" I asked.
"No," Amelia said, "I haven't really be able to be out, but I like this fresh start for me, miles away from my mother and her opinions, so no, I don't care who knows. All I know is that you make me happy, and I want people to know that. I don't want to hide." I smiled and leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"I'm proud of you," I said. She smiled.
"I do have a question though," she said.
"Go for it," I said.
"Well I'm you're girlfriend, and you're non-binary. So I guess I'm wondering what I can call you since boyfriend and girlfriend are gendered, I don't know what you're comfortable with? If there's like a neutral term?" She said. It was cute how she was trying to learn.
"Partner is fine, significant other, I just don't like the gendered girlfriend or boyfriend for myself," I said.
"Oh yeah, absolutely, thanks," she said.
"Thanks for asking," I said.
"Is there anything else we should talk about?" She asked.
"I don't think so as of right now, these things kinda just come up," I shrugged.
"Okay," she nodded.
"Thank you for accepting me as non-binary," I said.
"You don't have to thank me," she said as she grabbed my hand.
"I've just," I paused, "I've been with people in the past who really didn't like it, I obviously broke it off for those reasons, but you're the first person I've been with that hasn't made a big deal out of it."
"I'd never make a big deal out of it. You are who you are, and if you are non-binary I love that," She said and leaned up and kissed me. I smiled as she kissed me and wrapped my arm around her. She pulled away and smiled at me.
"I forgot we were outside for a second," she chuckled.
"Me too," I laughed.
"That's okay though, because I want everyone to know how much I like you," she said.
