My skin feels so alive
Like I'm living.
My nails try growing
Like I'm reaching for things just beyond my grasp.
My eyes are still looking
Like nobody is blind.
My ears continue to hear
Like the lies are worth listening to.
My stomach aches and grumbles
Like it is hungry for more than my dinner.
My lungs manage to breathe
Like they can inhale the hurt and exhale only happiness.
And my heart keeps beating
Like it doesn't know it's broken.
