A pearl necklace on my afternoon rides
Shimmering 'til my pain subsides
But dust on the side of the road lifts
Clouds of new fear corrupt my courage depths.A cartoon giggle catches my conscious
Filling my brain with memories and movie clips
But as the smile inches up my face
My nemesis' chuckle numbs my lips.A grey cerulean mirror sits near me in the morning sun
Reflecting an innocence I lost within myself
But an evening moon moved into place
And the glass cracked under my pressured grace. An old record in my over-the-hill heart
Serenading my soul with hidden solace art
But the promises crackle when they play
And a new CD will chime today.
