I can remember a time
Back when I was three
You told me I could be
Whatever I wanted to be
Meanwhile all I wanted to be
Was you
It was just
You and me
And butterfly kisses
Through all hits and misses
There's you and me
And butterfly kisses.
Then shortly after
I turned thirteen
A boy asked me to
The school Spring Fling
And when I panicked the night before
You got me ready
Told me just to call
If I wanted to flee
You were prepared
For anything
When the night was over
You came to me and said
Do you remember what you said?
You told me it was just
You and me
And butterfly kisses
Through all hits and misses
There's you and me
And butterfly kisses.
Now I can see
Since I'm thirty-three
How much you can love a child
My "bumblebee"
But the call in the morning
That said you were sick
I yelled at my husband
And called him a prick
And I long for the time
When it was just
You and me
And butterfly kisses
Through all hits and misses
There's you and me
And butterfly kisses.
The world was safer
When it was just
You and me
And butterfly kisses
Through all hits and misses
That's all I want
Some butterfly kisses
With you.
Some butterfly kisses
With you.
Butterfly kisses
With you.
