Through all seasons
Our love is
A leaf on a maple tree.In the beginning
It opens us up to new expectations
As we expose ourselves to each other
Like the sun on a leaf's surface. In the middle
It grows vibrant and healthy
As the summer days grow longer
And our relationship grows stronger. In the end
It begins to close off and shrink from within
Convinced we need to go separate ways
Like lonely leaves in crisp autumn air.Our love was
A leaf on a maple tree.
But leaves fall away from one another
It is the roots that keep the tree standing
Through all seasons.
