Drowning in the night,
Stars fizzle on my tongue.
Shadows are my friends--
They hide me pretty well.
But there's electricity in the air
And my fingers pull my hair,
Loosening my bones to a new feeling.
I take a breath.
Inhale the pollution;
A freshly found emotion;
All I want to do is scream
'Til my lungs burn out.
The candles burned out.
And the world's on fire.
Red eyes everywhere,
Not just at airports--
Which now are bare, too.
The skies open up for the sun
To swallow us up
Like lava poured into volcanoes.
We sizzle and wrinkle
Way before our expiration date.
Babies don't cry anymore,
Love's not found anymore,
In Nowhereland.
