~~~~2 Weeks Later~~~~
They had fallen into routine, walking, stopping to eat, searching buldings for various items, more walking, stopping at places to sleep, or barricading themsleves in a room somewhere and spend the night, repeat.
It was fairly early in the morning, maybe 10 A.M. when they were almost done searching a big house in what looked to be a rich, fancy neighborhood before everything went from bad to worse. Hakon was in what he presumed to be the master bedroom when he opened the drawers on the fancy dresser to find a few old men's police uniforms but nothing worth taking, so he went over to the bedside table and pulled open that drawer to find some car keys.
"Huh, no way we get so lucky..." he muttered under his breath as he picks up the keys and walks out of the bedroom
Aiden is checking the last few cabinets in the big kitchen when he hears footsteps coming down the steps and past the doorway, glancing to the doorway he sees Hakon quickly walking towards a door, curious as to what the male is doing, Aiden picks up his backpack and follows right behind him, opening the same door he is shocked to see Hakon sitting in the driver's seat of an old crown victoria, a cop car, with the door open.
"Do you believe in luck, pilgrim?" Hakon said as he smirked at Aiden, then turned the key over,
The car started after a few seconds making them both laugh in disbelief and smile at one another.
"Well, I didn't before but now I'm not so sure." Aiden said walking over to the passenger side to hop in,
"Do you want to drive?" Hakon asked as Aiden sat down beside him and put his backpack in the back seat,
"I, uhh, never learned how, I mean, I think I would be able to but this is a manual..." Aiden said as he rubbed the back of his neck feeling a bit embarrassed, realizing this Hakon thought for a moment then looked to the male to his left with a smile,
"I will teach you, then. Who better to learn from then a former cabby, eh?"
"Fine, alright but you're still gonna be the one driving most of the time."
Hakon just laughed as he got out and opened the garage door as Aiden got into the drver's seat, then he hopped into the passenger seat and said,
"Okay, now start the car, good, press the clutch and shift into reverse." he watched intently as Aiden followed his instructions,
"Alright, slowly let off the clutch and give it very little gas as you watch the rearview mirror." Aiden had done just that and backed out of the garage, managing to turn the car in the direction they needed to go on the slightly overgrown road.
"Okay, now press in the break and clutch, shift into 1st gear, and switch from break to gas then do the same thing as you did for reverse; slowly let off the clutch and slowy press the gas." Hakon said as he smiled at Aiden's concentration face, then a few second later the car started to move very slowly forward as Aiden let out a sigh of relief,
"Good job, now you're gonna shift into 2nd to go faster, let off the gas, press the clutch in, shift to 2nd, let off clutch, gas, yeah?" Hakon told him as he watched the male nod in acknowledgement, then did everything he said step by step but this time the car shut off as he tried to shift again, seeing Aiden's furrowed brows Hakon explained,
"You stalled it, probably letting the clutch out too fast, it's fine, just start the car and try again from 1st."
After a couple more tries, Aiden got 2nd down then Hakon told him to shift into 3rd but this time he stalled it from missing 3rd and going into 5th. Few more tries later, Hakon had decided to help him, a few moments after Aiden shifted into 2nd he spoke up,
"Press the clutch in," putting his left and over Aiden's on the shifter, he slowly guided it into 3rd then let go,
"There, now let off the clutch." finally Aiden got into 3rd even if he was feeling a bit flustered, after a little while of him driving, he slowly got better at shifting gears even though Hakon still had to help him every now and then,
"Thanks, Hakon, this is harder than I thought..." Aiden said with a light laugh,
"You just need practice, Aiden, you'll get it." Hakon told him with a small smile,
"Yeah, sure, but you can drive now, I've had enough driving for one day." Aiden said as he stopped the car causing Hakon to laugh as they got out to switch seats. 15 minutes into Hakon driving, Aiden had fallen asleep beside him with his head rested against the window and his hand, meanwhile as Hakon drove he let his mind envision what the beach would be like as he stole glances at the peacefully sleeping Aiden, feeling content.
