Chapter 30

For some odd reason, I still wasn't scared. Sure, I was concerned, but I wasn't even concerned about my safety. Thanks to a sudden burst of courage, I said harshly, "Where's Liam?" Daniel raised his eyebrows. There was something in his eyes that I had never seen before: absolute hatred.

It broke my heart to think that this was the man I had once loved. I had loved him with all of my being only to have been betrayed horribly by him. I remembered when we first met, how his green eyes used to sparkle and he used to be funny and sweet and an incredible boyfriend. What happened?

Another man appeared in the doorway, one that I knew all too well. Tony. "I have to go to the store," he told Daniel shortly, nodding once at Kellin. He gave me a murderous stare. Anger boiled inside me after I recalled his very own girlfriend's death. "Try not to kill someone on the way." I spit out, balling my hands into fists.

Tony turned around faster than anything, pointing a finger at me. I didn't even flinch. "She was a whore. Don't you dare say anything else about the subject." he said, but I could tell that wasn't the way he actually felt. I knew he had loved Kelli. But why had he killed her? It was the same as Kellin. He killed Julia, even though he loved her more than anyone in the world. Suddenly it struck me.

"Why did you two do it? Kill the girls you loved? For Daniel? That was a sorry mistake, honestly. He isn't worth it." I said quietly, looking from Kellin to Tony. Both of them were frozen, staring at me. Tony soon tore his gaze from me back to Daniel, "I should be a while since it's over an hour drive from here to town." he said, and he climbed into a car I hadn't noticed and drove away.

"Get inside." Daniel ordered, stepping out of the way so Kellin and I could get inside the small cabin. Kellin pushed me softly, his anger at me seeming to have subsided. I walked over the threshold to see what you'd normally see in a cabin: a tiny kitchen, a sitting area, a bathroom off to the side, and what seemed to be two small bedrooms.

The bedrooms, however, couldn't look more different from where I was standing. One had a faint glow, obviously from a lamp somewhere in the room, and I could see part of a queen bed and a dresser. The bedroom beside it was dark, pitch black dark, and had somewhat of a creepy aura about it.

Suddenly I remembered. "Where's Liam?" I asked. Either he was somewhere in this cabin, or.. dead. I prayed he was somewhere in here.

Without a reply, Daniel harshly grabbed my arm, leading my into the darker of the two bedrooms, flicking on a light switch. The brightness was overwhelming, and it took a minute to see properly. In the room there were two thin blankets and two pillows and nothing else. The floor was bare except for one thing huddled in the corner. "Liam." I whispered.

I almost took off running over there before Daniel tightened his grip. "Tomorrow we'll decide what to do with you. Don't get your hopes up," he growled, leaving the light on but shutting the door. I knew instinctively there was a lock on the outside of the door.

I stared at the door for another few seconds before turning around and walking cautiously towards the sleeping body on the floor. At least, I hoped he was sleeping.

Kneeling beside him, I gently touched his arm. He flinched in his sleep but that wasn't what I noticed. All I noticed was that he was freezing. I got both the blankets that were lying by the door and covered him up. Biting my lip to see that he was still shivering, I took off my jacket and laid it over him. I was cold but I would manage.

I ran my hand through his hair; even that was cold. Suddenly his eyes flew open and he jumped, sensing someone else in the room. He looked around madly with his brown eyes and then his eyes came to rest on me. He opened his mouth to speak but no noise came out.

He stared a few more seconds, and I never broke eye contact. "Christina," he breathed, so quietly I barely could make out what he said. "Hi." I said softly as he took my hand in his. "You're alive?" he said, the two words sounding more like a question than an actual statement. I nodded, smiling slightly.

With a great deal of effort it seemed like, he raised himself off the floor. I then saw just how pale he was and I frowned. "What's wrong?" he asked me, looking concerned. I looked back at his eyes to see the usual glint wasn't there. "Why are you so pale?" I asked. He couldn't have been here very long, maybe four or five hours at the most.

Liam looked at the ground, but I put two fingers under his chin and raised his face so he could look at me. "What happened?" I asked him. He sighed. "Two days ago.. I had to go to the hospital. They told me I only had a week to get a donor for my kidney or I'd die. I had convinced my parents that since there was no donor, I wouldn't live.

"I convinced them to let me go home. They took me home and I had one of those nurses who stayed with me. I have four days, Christina. I'm dying." Liam told me this in a heart breaking voice. I couldn't breathe. The room was spinning and I could almost smell the blood that had drained out of Julia's body.

Liam took his hands in mine. "If I don't make it, please don't do anything stupid." I didn't know I was crying until warm tears were dripping down my chin. Liam wiped the tears away with his thumb. He wrapped his arms around me, which only made me cry harder and my heart race. I missed him so much.

I couldn't lose him again.
