Chapter 27

"Christina?" There was no hello, no hi or anything. Liam's voice sounded completely desperate, and only managed to say Christina. "Liam.." I replied quietly, almost choking on the word. There was a moment of silence from the other end; I imagined Liam was trying to gather himself from a random phone call from me after a week of not being home.

"How are you?" he finally asked, and I could hear the pain in his voice. I started to cry. "I'm fine.. how are you?" I asked, trying but not succeeding to keep my voice level. "Please don't cry, baby." Liam said softly. I wanted to so badly to hear that voice in person, as he hugged me tightly.

I kept crying, earning sympathetic stares from Julia and Kellin. "I'm so sorry, Liam, so sorry..." I cried. "It's not your fault, Christina, not at all!" Liam said on the other side of the line desperately. I could almost see him pacing anxiously around his bedroom or his living room.

"But it is my fault Liam. If I hadn't of gotten involved with Daniel.. If I hadn't of been stupid to love him and allow him to do that to me for so long. It's my fault. I caused you all of this pain by getting close to you when if I had stayed away, you'd be okay, safe from all of this. Kelli would be alive and I'd be going through Hell but at least you and her would be fine!" I sobbed, clutching my heart.

Liam was quiet for a long time and I began to wonder if he was growing weary of me and my drama. "I'm not safe nor healthy, Christina. Even if we hadn't fallen for eachother I'd still be hurting." he finally said. My eyes grew wide and I felt even more guilty. His kidneys.

"Are.. are you having problems with your kidneys?" I asked, not sure if I was ready to hear the answer. "They're failing." Liam told me simply. I wiped away a tear. "No, I knew that. I mean, is there something serious going on with them?" I had stopped crying by now. Now I had to be there for Liam, and quit thinking of myself.

"I was in the hospital last night. Please, don't worry about me though. They said one of them is failing more quickly than the other one and that I have to come in for regular check ups. Right now they're looking for donors so I can have one really well working kidneys before both of mine fail." Liam explained quickly, not sounding as nervous as I would've thought.

"I'll give you one of mine." I said, completely serious. Liam sighed. "You're not here, remember? Speaking of that.. where exactly are you?" he asked me. I bit my bottom lip and looked at Kellin for guidance since he could hear the entire conversation. "Tell him only if you want." he said softly, but not softly enough.

"Are you there with a guy?!" Liam demanded. He sounded angry. Jealous. "No! I mean, yeah, I am! But you don't understand, Liam, it's not what it seems like!" I exclaimed. "Then what the hell is it? Because what it sounds like is that you're hooking up with some random guy!" Liam growled. A few tears escaped my eyes. I wasn't used to Liam being angry with me.

"I got here and someone took me in. He has a girlfriend." I said shortly, trying not to give away too much right now. Though I wanted to go home and see him desperately, I wasn't quite ready yet. "Where did you get?" Liam tried again, sounding more desperate than angry now. "I.. I'll tell you soon. After Daniel is in prison." I assured him.

Liam sighed and I could imagine him running a hand through his hair, frustrated. "I don't like this. Not knowing where you are or who you're with or if you're okay. "I'm safe, and I'm with a guy and girl named Kellin and Julia and I'm fine. Trust that." I told him.

"I love you so much." Liam said suddenly. I couldn't help but smile, and saw Kellin and Julia also smiling. "I love you too Liam." I replied, feeling my heart swell at this. Liam made a noise of what seemed like relief.

Suddenly I heard the phone move away from his ear. "What the hell-" was all I heard before the phone fell. "Liam?" No reply, but the line wasn't dead. "LIAM!" I practically yelled. My breath was becoming detatched. What went wrong? I suddenly heard a painfully familiar voice, a voice that had haunted my nightmares for such a long time.

"Hello, Christina." Daniel said.
