Liam and I graduated with ease, the school giving us slight byway for medical, and sadly, mental reasons. He was in a wheel chair when he went for his diploma, but he was about to start walking again, something I knew he was anxious but excited for. I was excited too, but for different reasons.
My mom of all people was the most thrilled about the wedding, despite me and Liam barely being eighteen. She said it was true love, there was no doubt about that. Even my dad agreed with her, which I knew wasn't easy for him. I would be moving in with Liam, who had started working for his dad's company. Everything was falling into place.
I stared at the long aisle in front of me, the white carpet covered by pink rose petals. People sat on either side of the church, standing as they waited for me to walk down it. They were waiting for the bride. I was the bride.
Liam was standing, yes, actually standing, at the front alter, looking more nervous than I had ever seen him. I wanted to run for him, but my mom held me back. She adjusted my dress, the one with the sweetheart, jeweled neckline. It was tight fitting around my midsection, but it flowed at the bottom. It was like a princess dress. A way too overpriced princess dress.
My heart began to pound when the music began playing. My dad offered me an arm, and after taking a shaky breath, I linked mine with his and started walking down the aisle.
I passed my relatives, the ones who cared about me now more than ever. I saw Liam's family, and Kelly's family. I saw Ryan, much to my surprise. I had sent him an invitation but he had never responded. He grinned widely at me and gave me a thumbs up. I smiled back, slightly blushing at the memory of what we had done together.
The walk up there felt like a million years, but the ceremony felt like five minutes. Suddenly, another diamond ring was being put on my finger, this one a pink hue, with the date scripted on it. I smiled and put a ring on Liam's finger, watching his face glow at me. "You may now kiss the bride."
The minister barely got the words out before Liam's mouth descended on mine, leaving me slightly dazed. People cheered, and I heard some catcalls from our younger guests. Liam broke away, breathing heavily. Looking me in the eyes, he said, "I love you, my beautiful wife." I smiled as my eyes filled up with tears. Liam walked me back down the aisle, and into our new life. Our happy, blissful life.
