Since L started working on the case his boss regally checked in on him. He wanted to ensure he's doing well physically and mentally, and also monitor his progress. As much as L didn't want to admit, he was struggling. But that was fine because Mr. Parsons found a solution. He reached out to another one of his employees that he knew Lawliet would connect with and together they can use their brilliant minds to solve their murder.

Mr. Parsons lightly knocked onto the door, as he barged into L's office, "Knock knock, how's it going?" He awkwardly chuckled and said, "Great, like I said an hour ago when I saw you."

Mr. Parsons nodded. it was dead silent again until he spoke up. "I hope you don't mind but I've asked someone to assist you with the case. Y'know the saying 'two heads are better than one."

L sighed because he could use the extra help. His boss momentarily stepped out of the room before coming back in with the person he will now be working with. The door opened again and in came a man a few years younger than him. To his surprise they have never crossed paths before so this was going to be interesting. But nonetheless, he greeted his new partner.

"I'm L Lawliet." The man clasped his hands with L and said, "It's nice to meet you detective. I'm Ranpo Edogawa."

After their short greeting their boss left them to give them space to get to know each other and work.

I hope he can keep up...

...I can say the same for you.

They both looked at each other. Though nothing was said out loud, they could tell the other had enough to say.

L cleared his throat. "So what do you know about the case I'm working on?"

Randi pulled up a chair. "I know that it's in better hands now. I don't usually disclose this but I used to work at Private-Eyes and let me just say that it's the shadiest place I've ever worked. The level of corruption and cover-ups I witnessed was mind-boggling." This piqued his interest, so he remained silent as Ranpo continued. "They barely did their job and always accepted bribes. And because of that, most of their cases were never solved or thrown out due to inconsistencies."

That makes so much sense now, L thought to himself.

"Before get started, here's a brief sum—"

"No need, I've already read the reports. The victim is 18 years old Jarvis Keith. He's an African-American, male, blood type: AB, eye color: brown a—"

"I don't think we need to go that deep into detail", he lightly heartedly chuckled.

"Apologies. But as I was saying, Jarvis was a resident of this city and on May 29,2019 close to 7 in the evening he was on his way home from the park when suddenly two car pulled up and opened fire. He got caught in the middle of the shoot out and unfortunately got struck with strays. Later, according to the report it's said that the people that open fire were getting revenge for drug deal gone bad and he wasn't the intended target."
